We added a 32" HD flatscreen to the bulkhead behind the helm (same place SR installs) & I want to find the TV shore cable & splice iinto it somewhere near the main electrial breaker control panel, ie MEBCP.

Where should I expect to find the main bundle of wires that leaves the engine room up the starboard side ref the MEBCP. Any hints to make my job easier will be greatly appreciated.

I'm adding a HD sat receiver & DVD player somewhere in the area of MEBCP.

Keep us up to date on your progress. Any pictures? What sat system did you choose? Here's an image of my 32" Sharp cockpit HDTV.

I tapped into the lead behind/above the small TV in mid cabin stateroom, but that is not a short distance from there to where you want to be. From there, I went to port and up above the cockpit sink. The good news is that line comes off of the Glomex and the cable at the back, depending on the power on the Glomex control in the top of the cabinet forward of the galley.

Before I chose this route, I had discovered the cable in the aft port side of the ER. It's easy to ID. Follow it forward from there, but, I believe it stays to port and runs past the battery charger, behind the lav and galley to the Glomex control panel. Access it from beneath the head sink (maybe), from the cabinet on the port side of mid-cabin berth (remove clear panel to port in the back of the cabinet), from benind the galley, and behind the galley tv. It may be easier to access from top of small, ceiling tv and run cable to the electrical panel from that point.

I'm currently tapped into the existing cable behind the galley TV but the plan is to remove that TV & convert the hole into needed storage space. I ran the new cable under the V-berth & down the starboard side under the "couch" to exit in the rear berth area.

My current SAT receiver, Dish, sits on top of the shelf above the galley but will move closer to the new TV, probably on the shelf above the cabinets on the starboard side.

Ref the new 32" TV..it's a Sony KDL32L5000, 720p, Walmart $475. I made a mounting bracket from 1" sq tubing to ensure better support than OTC bracket.

WARNING...be very careful drilling anywhere on a boat. Where I mounted the big screen, same place SR would have for $2500, there are a couple of electronic boxes mounted below the wheel & in the area where the door slides into that could easily be "holed". DO NOT DRILL INTO EITHER OF THESE

For a shorter route, your best bet will probably be to tap into it in the port ER, run it to stbd inside the electric housing on the front bulkhead, forward along the stbd side to the panel. To make this easy/possible, remove back of U-shape lounge behind Captain's seat (6 screws, then lift off), remove the hose on bottom of wine bucket, then remove the panel on the stbd side of the cockpit behind the seat back. Remove the speaker / cup holder assy next to the Captain's knee. Feed line forward.

If you haven't dug into there yet, then realize that the speaker next to the Captain's knee is above the cabinet in the mid-cabin berth to stbd. It doesn't do any good to dig into that cabinet (the one above the secret hiding place). Remove the 6 screws holding the top 1/2 of the electrical panel in place, lean it out (to port, really) while placing a protective cloth at the base of the removed portion. As you feed the cable forward from the speaker area, feed it downward. It will show up in the back of the electrical panel where all of the other wires descend from.

What I'm trying to find the the shore TV cable, where it runs along the starboard side. From the engine room it appears to be part of a bundle that runs out of the ER high on the starboard side.

My new TV is mounted in the cabin. Someday we might put one in the cockpit area thus I'll have to run a cable from the SAT rec to the outside TV, depending on which side I mount it.

I'll have to take a look. I don't remember it going to stbd in the ER.

John....do me a big favor & see where yours goes. I thought mine goes down the starboard but port makes more sense.

Sorry. Just got back to work (0145 - We're providing air superiority for presidential protection). Won't be back to the boat for a day or two. If I get there before you get to yours, I'll check.

Found the main bundle, easier than I expected. It runs behind the starboard cabinets above the couch & is accessed by removing a panel (2 screws) in the back of the right cabinet. There's one large bundle & a couple of smaller bundles secured with tape & tie wraps. Within the large bundle I found coax that was identical to that at the shore connection panel, thru the engine room & at the Amp controller near the galley TV. This was going to be sooooo easy, I would be watching HD within an hour. With one quick cut I severed the coax & to my horror the TV continued to play....Twight Light Zone time. How could this be? What did I cut? It appeared to be coax. I even took the (2) ends & held them 12" apart so the signal couldn't magically jump across. An EE I'm not. At least I could add cable ends & re-connect with a splice. As I did this I thought why would there be any other coax & remembered attached to the Amp control near the galley TV are (2) coax cables. One labeled From Dock & the other From Antenna on the radar arch. Thinking I had a 100% chance of being right, turned out it was really a 50/50, I cut the wrong one. That's why I don't go to Vegas to get rich & would never skydive. While fixing my mistake I dug deeper into the large bundle & found one & only one more coax. To my relief when I cut that one I did loose the TV. After attaching new cable ends & another splice the signal was again flowing & the TV working, albeit in standard format.

Because it was such a beautiful day, probably one of the last when we could swim comfortably, we decided to postpone till next weekend the rest of the installation, and go enjoy ourselves on the water. When this is all over I'll post pics & details how I added the 32" flat screen, HD Sat receiver, DVD player & wired all.

Here's a thought: You have 2 cables running from a TV signal source (Cable at dock and antenna) to the forward, port side Glomex Control Panel. From there, the signal goes to 2 or 3 places: 1) Galley TV 2) Mid Cabin Berth TV 3) Big Bulkhead TV at back of main cabin. You could have cut one of the outbound cables, which, in my opinion, is better to use. That way, you can turn the Glomex on for antenna signals and Glomex off for dockside cable tv. The way you are leaning may just get you one or the other.
