Sorry, I know this has been covered before but I can't find it.

Will whomever has installed a big screen TV in the cabin of a "03 or newer 340DA please re-post or direct to previous post listing steps taken. Thx...PD

Step 1: Figure out where to mount it. You will want to through bolt it. Use large fender washers to distribute the load, or use a metal plate on the other side. The bolts will come out under the helm. You will need to size the bolts correctly, as they may interfere with the cabin door.

Step 2: AC power. I ran wire for an outlet into the decorative panel above where the TV goes. I tied it into the AC panel.

Step 3: Run the antenna cable. The easiest way is to run a long cable around the boat from the amplifier in the port cabinet next to the galley TV.

I made a small panel to cover the wires coming from above. Depending on the size of your TV, you may not need one. I chose a 26" set, but a larger one will fit.

Teekster,

I'm preparing to mount one on the port arch. Which way would you run the cable? Sorry about the hijack, but it may apply to this application as well.

I must have had that same tech. That is probably the easiest way. It might be worth checking to see if the antenna cable comes down the port side of the arch (I don't remember seeing it on the starboard side). If so, you could tap into it there.

Teekster...My satellite receiver is mounted on the shelf above the galley sink & I routed the power & coax to the back of the existing TV via a 1" hole I cut in vertical panel at the end of the shelf.
My plan is to split the SAT OUT line behind the TV & run a 30' cable down into the AC compartment under the bed, thru the void under the closet, thru the salon sofa structure, under the breaker box & up into the wall beside the new TV location.
Is this how you routed yours?

I didn't try very hard to get through the AC area. That would have been a good route. I followed the cable bundles around the boat. I went through the anchor locker to get to the other side.

John, I ran the tv cable behind the power panel (split off the tv mounted above the mid cabin) to the engine room, and then up to the tv. Fishing the wires was a pain in the a$$ as some tech thought it would be fun to see how much sealant he could put in the holes for the wires in the bulkheads.

I actually mounted the TV on a pole (removable socket) just behind the cockpit sink, and ran the cable and electrical on the vertical face behind and under the forward facing passenger seat. This way, the whole thing is removable, and there is no evidence that the TV was in place. (19 inch flat screen with built in DVD)

Scott,
Would you mind posting couple of pictures. I'm doing the same project and still debating my options on tv mount and where to leave off the cables.

Thanks,
Alex.

With this method, do you have complete system capabilities ie antenna, cable, and DVD (though you have another DVD in the TV)?

Thank you.

What kind of mount works best? Is it worthwhile to use one that tilts up/down? I just got my $500k TVs in the mail, a 32" samsung and a 26" sharp w/ built in DVD. Either will fit fine but what kind of DVD player would work best if I go with the 32" I was thinking of replacing the clarion HU with one that has DVD playback possibly. SB

I used a low profile fixed mount. I tried to keep it simple and secure. These TVs weigh 30-40 lbs. I doubt any adjustable mounts would handle the stress of marine duty over the long haul.

BTW, consider that if you replace the HU, you lose the helm remote. You could add a standalone mobile DVD player in the spacce above the HU pretty easily. Otherwise, use the Sharp.
