Anyone know how to remove these speakers? Don't see an obvious screw. Two of them are not working, so looking to replace. Also, right behind where the stern door opens is a circular cover with 4 screws, can a speaker go here as well? I didn't want to pull it because mine is cracked and might not go back together if I remove the screws.

Also, not sure if it is original or replacement, but also want to replace the stereo...is that pretty much unplug the old and plug in the new?

I think it’s a twist ....lefty loosie

I would check out the cover too.... I have seen them sold online...might be worth a search or put a speaker there if room...you could always remove it to access what’s behind

Heads up ...the speakers I replaced mine with were slightly bigger than the hole...worth checking out.

I also replaced my cup holders with stainless...cheap upgrade for bling factor...:)

Have to twist them, could take a little force to get them to move though

My speakers look just like yours and I am trying to remove the cover. Were you able to figure out how to do it? Is it done by twisting them clockwise or counterclockwise? Thanks.

The original poster does not come here often. He has not been on the site since May 9.

Most likely it is counter clockwise, otherwise known as lefty Loosey

If your speakers look like the ones in the pictures at the top of this thread, I can state unequivocally that, when facing them, a good firm twist CLOCKWISE of the outer cover will remove them. Once the cover is off, the rest of the speaker is secured with four screws.

I ended up having someone do the work for me, so I cannot say unfortunately.

Correct, clockwise to take them off.

Same removal on mine? 06 240SD
I've tried twisting both ways. Next step might be some gentle tapping to assist in rotating them off.

The cover by the stern door is a fire access hatch. If you have an engine fire you open the cover and dump the contents of your fire extinguisher through that access hatch.

Of course, if you have an engine fire
- Turn off the engine
- Life jackets on and muster at the bow
- Notify/radio/call for help
- Do not open the engine hatch!
- Do not open the battery access!

Good luck with the speakers... please post back your outcome for the rest of us that will be following in your tracks!
