Does anybody have one? I saw some threads where bigger boats may have them but I'm curious if the 280 Dancers have one. I crawled around in the ER and couldn't find anything.

After I upgraded to Smartcraft I gave some thought to doing it. SC supports multiple fuel tanks and the fuel tank harness has the necessary additional lead. SC also allows the tanks to be user configured, so the second tank can be configured to display as fuel, water, waste, or oil (for 2 cycle OBs).

All it would mean would be to add a sending unit to the tank, but there have been more critical issues, so a water tank indicator is on the lis, just not at the top.

I'll have to crawl below so I can spend more time looking around. It's still so new of a thing that the kids always want to join me and there's not that much room in the ER with the kids, twins and a genset. :)

Greetings,

The freshwater tank on my 2003 280 Sundancer is covered in insulation. I have considered removing it so I can view the water level but I would be interested if there is a better solution.

And why is that?

Starting late 2003 they added insulation to the fresh water tank.

Now this insulation does nothing, the water does not stay cool. If you run for a day it still gets warm. So all the insulation does is prevent you from seeing the water level. Nice.

Why not just top off the tank before you go out? I've never encountered a time when we ran out of water over a weekend, and if we are out for more than 2-3 days, on day 3 I just automaticly fill up with water... I don't have kids on the boat either though... I also check my engine & outdrive oil on a weekly basis so I just look behind me to check the water level while I'm in the bilge.
