Nice little unit. I just bought a Schosche BoomBottle (not to be confused with BoomBox) on sale at West Marine. It's the size of a coffee travel mug and is designed to fit in a cupholder (car, bicycle, boat) or it can hang from whatever on its carabiner. Its also water resistant. Doesn't...
I guess I'm a bit OCD with boat cleaning too. Keep after it, at least one section every time we're out, and it never gets to be a big task. And I wipe the hull down after every outing; to me this is one of the best things you can do to maintain the shine. I see a lot of people hosing the hull...
On the upper Mississippi they're called wing dams. There are thousands along the entire river. They're displayed on GPS/plotters but they aren't marked in the channel, and they're usually not visible unless the water is really low. They were built back in the late 1800s to maintain a level of...
People camp there all summer long. Not sure the history of how that all came about but I'm sure someone else can fill in. The river is definitely high right now, about 8 feet higher than last September where we slip our boat
Presta also makes lighter cutting compounds. The SuperCut will remove 600 grit swirls, the GelCoat compound removes 800, and the Ultra Cutting Crème 1200. I used SuperCut to take care of the initial nasty stuff but I now get by with just the Gelcoat and Cutting Crème.
We did a day trip to Red Wing last summer and stayed at Red Wing Marina. Jim and Cindy are a great couple, and she made room for us no problem, even for that short stay.
I've used both of those Meguiars products with good results. Plexus works great, as does a product I still use called Honda polish, which I used to clean every plastic thing on my motorcycle with excellent results - faring, windscreen, helmet face shield, you name it.
I'm bikeless at the moment but I was more of a sport-touring guy, the most recent of which was a Yamaha FJR1300 and before that a Honda VFR. On one bike or the other I was around Lake Superior, up in the UP, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Arkansas, etc. Lots of fun but with a boat there just...
