Our boat typically cranked for awhile before starting, particularly if it has been sitting for long. We had a starting problem with our Jaguar XK8 recently and the mechanic suggested we add a can of SeaFoam to the gas tank. It solved the problem. So I thought it was worth a shot in the boat. We...
Went out in the boat this afternoon and when I hit the button to trim the drive, nothing. I could here an electric motor sound but the drive did not move. Tried the trailer button, same thing... sound but no movement. anybody got a clue what's happening here?
I bent the key in the hatch to the cabin and now it won't work in the ignition switch. Anybody know how big a deal it is to replace the ignition switch?
I left the battery switch on 'Both' for a few days and now the batteries are too low to start the engine. Anybody know how long it will take for the inverter to recharge them enough to start?
OK, Boat's at the marina. They did a drive service and said the gimbal bearing, U joints and bellows are fine. They are now doing plugs, points, rotor , cap, zincs, etc. They seem to think this will solve the problem. However, when they had the boat up they noticed a crack in the lower unit...
Anybody know what the top speed should be on a 1996 Sundancer 250 with a 5.7 and bravo 3 drive? It's maxing out at 4000 rpm and 26 knots. Seems to me that's low.
I'm tired of wrestling the anchor out of the locker and overboard. It's only a matter of time before I crack into the hull. So I'm thinking about an anchor roller and a new Delta plow anchor. The question is; what size anchor roller do I need for my 250 Sundancer?
Our 250 Sundancer has been sitting at our dock for several months because we've been too busy to go out. Yesterday I took a good look at it and yikes! Green algae and dirt. It looked awful. Now, I've got a closet full of marine cleaners but I had heard my father talk about using 20 Mule Team...
Had our 250 out for detail and service and noticed corrosion on the lower unit of the outdrive. (Boat is docked at our house in South Florida in Brackish water.)We've had a diver coming once a month to clean and check zincs but he must not have been doing a very good job. Anyway, the marina...
The locks are open again and we're thinking about making the trip across Florida from Stuart to Naples in late September. Any tips on that cruise would be welcome.

Just got my boat back from the marina after some repair work. There was a $75.00 charge for haul out/launch. Now, I've been to this marina three times for service in the last six months, total of just under $4000. This is the first time I've been charged for the haul out and launch. I mentioned...
Boat was in for an overheating problem that turned out to be a corroded bushing in the water pickup. Cheap part, heavy labor. they had to pull the drive and the engine to fix it. So, I get the boat back, and it's running cooler but there are a couple unexpected results.
The boat used to tip...
I posted an earlier thread trying to figure out the cause of overheating on a FWC 5.7. The majority on the site thought the issue was the impeller, heat exchanger or the thermostat.
As it turns out I would prefer any of those. The actual cause was a corroded bushing in the hose that goes from...
Got the boat back after replacing manifolds and risers. Tried WOT today for about a mile and temp went to about 190. Dropped sped to 5 knots and temp dropped to 170. I'm thinking the 190 is too high and I noticed a white powdery substance around the thermostat housing and I'm wondering if this...
Okay, let's say your boat is in for service and they have it out of the water. How much do you tip the guy who puts it back in the water when you pick up your boat?
