I have a 98 270SE on lake Erie and she handles well. I once cruised from Lakefront Marina to pelee island in 5 to 7 footers with no problem. Wouldn't do that on a regular basis though.

Though I love my 98 270 I bought used in 2005, I still miss my 1980 260 I bought used in 2002. I think it had the better lay out down below but I just though I better get something a little newer.

SE is actual "special Edition" 270 which were only made in 1998 and 1999. The beam is 8'6" for trailering. The regular DA beam is 9'2". There are a couple of threads pros and cons about the difference betweeen the two models.
