Moving to Portland OR. Need info!

Hi there. My wife and I moving to downtown Portland Oregon at the end of April. We have a Sundancer 260 that we keep in the water year round. I was wondering if anyone in here was familiar with boating in the area, and can offer any input as to the following. - Willamette vs Columbia. There...

xtreme bilge heater in a 320

Right on, thanks. I have a 260...I'm trying to recall any little access panels, doesn't ring a bell. That's exactly what I wondering, because it seems the unit I'm buying today has a 20 foot heavy duty plug on it. It seems crazy to just run that cord out the hatch cause wouldn't that not only...

xtreme bilge heater in a 320

Can anyone tell me what the electrical hookup is like on Xtreme Heaters? I'm buying and installing one tonight (as the weather has turned to freezing instantly) and I'm wondering what I'll be connecting this unit to for power....thx.

So, I was thinking about this Healthcare debate

Knotty Buoy - Not all Americans are selfish and under-informed. Personally I cannot argue against a public-option being added to our system. A lot of Americans have a huge problem with adding an 'option'. Maybe they don't comprehend the word 'option'. I think its pretty sad that insured, hard...

    Fiberglass radar arch for 260?

Greetings ~ I have a 2001 260DA and we're interested in possibly adding a radar arch. I've been researching and found almost nothing. Lots of Aluminum options it seems, but no fiberglass or OEM options. The 2003 260DA had a fiberglass arch option, and from what I can tell there are no...

    Beaufort SC vacation

Awesome pictures! Thanks for sharing. We live in TN, land locked for sure. My family has been vacationing on Hilton Head for decades though and I'd love to take our boat down there next summer. Where does one begin looking for research on maps, routes, etc etc ? Thanks.

    Windlass dead.

This problem was indeed the engine room breaker. Small plastic lever that looks nothing like you'd think. Thanks for the tips.

    Windlass dead.

Thanks for the tips. Mine stopped when I was running it up and it was hung. There were loads of screaming kids, stereos etc and I didn't hear it catch fast enough. Seemed like it just tripped something out. I'll be havin a look this weekend. Thanks again.

    Dale Hollow Lake

From Nashville give Tim's Ford Lake a try. Pretty big lake, rally deep and clean and not too crowded most weekends.

    Windlass dead.

Has anyone experienced a dead windlass, that seems like its getting no power at all? Mine is silent. The breaker switch on the dash (rocker switch) doesn't light up either. I checked the fuse found in the anchor locker, and looked behind the dash for another and didn't find one. Is their another...

    Sound Shield on a 260DA?

Yeah, I brought some sound absorbtion tiles to the boat last weekend. Then it quit running due to fuel intake/starvation problems, still not fixed. So haven't got to this yet. You're sooo right though. There is a big difference in the level of sound with that lid shut.

    Windlass problem

I need to troubleshoot the exact same thing this weekend. My breaker switch on the dash isn't lighting up, no controls work. I'll be checking fuses first I think. Can anyone tell me what types of fuses to take to the marina?

    Windlass problem

Last weekend my anchor got stuck and the windlass tripped out (Marlin). It looked like the breaker switch on the dash wasn't lighting afterwards. Neither controls function. Thoughts on where to look first this weekend?

Happy 4th! Not. Engine restricting RPMs...?

My boat got pulled today, and *fingers crossed* will actually get looked at tomorrow. It seems like a fuel issue. When in gear and throttled it misfires and chokes all over the place. Also curious is the fact that there are like 30 boats in my marina having fuel problems right now, most...

Happy 4th! Not. Engine restricting RPMs...?

Well it isn't the fuel filter. Replaced it twice, no change. Boat comes out and gets checked out Thursday. Can't say I didn't try!

Timed bilge pump on 2000 310 Sundancer?

The sump pump on my 260DA does this occasionally. On mine its a Mercury switch, and sometimes it settles wrong if I've gone through some wakes and had a bumpy ride. The remedy is to take another hard ride of course, or better yet - gently slap the side of the box holding the switch to resettle...

Happy 4th! Not. Engine restricting RPMs...?

Update: first attempt at changing the fuel filter unsuccessful! I have a new filter ready and waiting, the old filter was far more difficult to remove than expected. I'll try again tonight with proper tools. I'm becoming quite certain there will be some nasty water found in the old filter. I...

Happy 4th! Not. Engine restricting RPMs...?

...and I can rule out the Guardian Strategy system, since it would yield an alarm and I'm not hearing one. I've been reading the Merc troubleshooting guide here and I'm thinking it could be throttle/fuel system related. Or an EFI problem. The fuel lines all looked good, maybe fuel filters...
