    Dangling Cooling Hose Bracket

I suppose I'll just let it be, god knows how long it's been like that. I just find it odd that there's nowhere for it to go... Oh well!

    Dangling Cooling Hose Bracket

After peeking around the engine bay one afternoon, I discovered a bracket that is attached to the cooling hose extender but not connected anywhere to provide support. I checked around to see if there was a stud on the engine block that it might screw onto but for the life of me cant figure out...

    My dads new boat...(kinda long)

This thread was awesome, it was truly a pleasure to read through. I'm glad you were able to get the boat running for your dad & his family to enjoy! I can relate to this in so many ways albeit in a "roles reversed" situation. I bought my 215 EC last summer & my dad has been helping me fix her up...

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

Update: I reset the timing this past Saturday using the suggestions that all of you provided & wanted to give a huge thank you. It turned out be very straightforward & the engine definitely seems to be running a lot better. It now starts on the first or second try & operates a lot smoother at...

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

Hey Bill, yes you're correct. I was a bit confused at first because I expected the timing marks to be "fixed" while I searched for a moving indicator line/ indent. I didn't realize at first that the pointer in the photo that I uploaded was indeed the actual pointer lol I did make sure to put the...

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

Cool, will do! I have a new digital timing light w/ a tachometer coming in tomorrow.

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

Here's pictures of both the timing marks & pointer. Am I correct in assuming that's the "fixed" pointer circled in red? (The degree marks are to the left on the photo of the balancer, a bit hard to see. Also strange that the BTDC marks are to the right of 0?)

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

I got my information from Service Manual 17, see attached pictures.

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

I'm going to go with crazy lol on top of this, I have a leaking steering cooler that needs to be replaced by this weekend. That ought to be fun!

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

That is my initial thinking too... I'll definitely get a picture ASAP.

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

You know, I had actually been referencing that manual for quite some time until I noticed that it specified a different spark plug type/ gap (AC-MR43T, .035" gap vs AC-MR43LTS, .045" gap). And I believe my engine is the "MCM 5.7 Alpha" as opposed to the "MCM 5.7 Alpha Bravo"... Again, very...

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

You're right, I should've taken a picture of the balance & pointer. I'll get one & report back!

    5.7L - Ignition Timing Confusion

I've been trying to reset the ignition timing on my 1997 215 EC with the 5.7L 2 Barrel Carburetor. However, the service manual & engine cover show different values for the correct timing advancement. The service manuals says 8 degrees BTDC & the engine cover says 10 degrees BTDC (I've attached...

    Official 215 Express Thread

It's underneath the floor hatch, next to the fuel tank. Some models have a fill cap built into the floor (right before you step down into the cabin).

    Speaker Distortion after Amplifier Install

Here's a picture of my amp. It doesn't have terminals per say but rather a factory installed power/ ground harness from which you see the red & black wires. Would you suggest tapping into these for the stereo power & ground?

    Speaker Distortion after Amplifier Install

I'll certainly look into that, thank you! I've been meaning to pick up a new multimeter so now is probably the time to do so.

    Speaker Distortion after Amplifier Install

I have to admit, this is a bit technical for me but I'm following along! Here's how my system is currently configured (please feel free to critique if you think I made a mistake): Amplifier Power (10 gauge): connected to Battery 1 (starboard battery) w/ inline fuse Amplifier Ground (10 gauge)...

    Speaker Distortion after Amplifier Install

Update 2: I re-wired the head unit according to the manufacturers' instructions which included a direct power line to the battery & a separate accessory line to the main fuse panel. I also re-grounded both the stereo & amplifier to the grounding panel & did a final check on all connections/...

    Speaker Distortion after Amplifier Install

Update: I moved the amp ground from the battery to the grounding panel behind the dash. While I was doing so, I noticed some funkiness going on with the stereo wiring harness. Long story short, it was pretty hacked up. Both the main power wire (yellow, 12v) & accessory (red) were spliced...

    Speaker Distortion after Amplifier Install

Hey Chris, I'm sure they're near some wires associated with the engine. All of the wiring for the amp is behind the dash near the main panel. I did my best to keep everything separate & have played with moving the wires around to minimize contact... I thought it may have been the RCA's too but I...
