End of last season I decided to buy a new 190 SPX IO. Looked at it every day in my garage frothing at the bit to get it out on the water for the first time, 5 months after pruchase. Fresh, clean and new.
Took it out twice and spotted a God damn stress crack by one of the cleats....originating...
Was hoping I can call on any experiece with a 5 pin wiring harness. I have a 4 Pin and ordered the 4 to 5 pin harness to operate the actuator to release the surge brakes when backing up.
It comes with an extra blue wire that I am supposed to splice into my reverse light to operate the brake...
Due to the design of my 18' bowrider, the bow dips hard when I come to a stop....further exentuated in chop. Moving along, want to stop, bow dips hard. Really unnerves my wife.
Is there a way to maneuver the boat to decrease this? I was thinking making a hook or a u-turn before stopping of...
Over the course of the last 2 decades, there has been a real emphasis on "Saving the Bay". Maryland and Virginia have put an obligation on their residents to pitch $ in.
Here's what I have discovered and I wanted to share it with anyone who boats and fishes on these waters to set the record...
Can someone please explain the replationship to me of these 2 brands which seem to be interchangeable and synonymous?
I see parts for sale, which are essentially the same, yet less expensive if carrying the Quick Silver name instead of Mercury.???
DID YOU KNOW that wood does not only float on the surface? It can also water log and "float" just below the surface and out of view.
I made this $200 discovery recently. 2nd prop this season.
Hi All,
Just wanted to confirm something. Should the trim guage read all the way at the top of full trim up (as in when you press the trailer switch until it stops in the highest position up) or at the top of allowable positon to drive the boat?
Thank you
Real technical speak. Love my first boat. Wonderful vessel that has been so reliable and good to me. Speaking about my Mercruiser 3.0L. It has a plastic port at the very top of the motor that connects to a small black corrugated hose that runs to a bracket on the flame suppressor. The port...
Gosh, an end to being skunked on the bay. As I pulled up to the dock, I thought "Atleast the boat ran like a champ!" Always consider it a win when nothing happens to the boat.
Until I drug the outdrive a foot on the ramp because I forgot to trim up. Geeze!
Thought this might helpful....put...
So I bought a boat and made some compromises to get on the water this summer. Bottom paint! I hate it.
Thought I could live with it. It's a peeling eye sore. I'm commited to getting it the heck off.
I've read about a paint on remover that scrapes off after allowing for time to work and...
I am a new boater. I have an 18' Sea Ray. She's a gem. Little rough visually, but I like the visual character with phenomenally working mechanics.
So I replaced the prop with a 21" aluminum new propellor. Out of box, it's not sharpened but I am assuming balanced?
Tops out at 38mph with 3...
Can anyone point me in the direction of a vendor that sells the stern starboard jump seat cushion (over battery box) for an 07 Sea Ray 175 Sport?
Seems that some odds and ends are hard to track down beyond the offerings of flounder pounder.
Thank you for any suggestions
More than likely I'll...
I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to quality products that actually do what they say they are going to do.
I have found the following procucts to be a good value in price and performance.
Aerospace 303 protectant- works well for me to maintain vinyl seating and rubberized...
If 3 people tell me to shut up, I'll stop starting threads. Promise. No sarcasm intended.
After 5 outings with my family (of 4), I'm trying to think of things to do with the boat. We've gone to an island and parked off the beach to sit with other boaters playing in the water. Fun. We've...
My boat is in the shop a little longer than expected. After 5 outings with her and the family after purchase, I miss my boat dearly today.
I'd like to live vicariously through you. It's such a nice day and I am off tomorrow, boatless as well.
What did you do today with your boat? Pics would...
...of how much maintenance the community does on their own boats.? Seems that boating really requires rolling up your sleeves and digging in to understand your boats so as to have more success and time on the water.
It also seems to save money, but in boating that may be a moot point.
