I went down to harbor freight and picked up a chain hoist then used a tree limb. Then lowered it down on a trailer. Worked perfectly and was cheap to do. I'm in the same boat with the stringers and all. I made up my mind I'm all in.
I was looking at the ground section in the article and you just answered another question for me. I redid my shore power which has a metal breaker box which is of course grounded. I was wondering about whether or not that was enough of a ground for that and I see the article says the shore power...
OK, I was doing some research and have seen a number of ground systems, some which just say using the negative post on the house battery. However I came across one I think may be the better way to go. Basically you just run the house battery negative to the start battery negative post which is...
LOL! Darn I thought I had an answer. I was able to test my old panel board this morning and all the switches work great. So I guess once I feel secure about a proper ground and finish identifying the rest of the spaghetti wires then I can start running circuits to everything.
Hello All, I'm in the process of rewiring and am separating the 12 volt house panel from the starting battery to it's own battery system. I'm going to use the old panel which has breakers for each circuit next to the switches. The panel itself has no ground connections, just the breakers and hot...
Great. I didn't see anything wrong with it however I like to be cautious in case I was missing something. There's nothing online showing someone running an air conditioner with their boat out of the water. I'll give the bucket a try to make sure the pump works then use a hose as I go further...
Hello All,
I have a 78 260 Sundancer that I've been working on and trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. I just finished with the shore power wiring so all the receptacles are wired and working. The boat has an air conditioner set up under the seat cushions which has a regular 3...
Hello All,

I'm trying to figure out the wiring on my 78 260 sundancer and how I'd want the batteries and circuits set up. I saw this quote from 2017 here on Classic Sea Rays which sounds right to me. I'm curious if others agree or have any other ideas or suggestions. Appreciate any comments. Here is the...
I think you got it. Based on your idea this morning I looked at some for sale adds online with photos. The boats that are an exact match with mine don't have the spot light and none of them have those toggles or even the hatch door. Good to know. Thanks
Never thought of that. You may well be right. I'm hoping to hear from anyone with a similar boat of the same year or so to see if they have them. That said perhaps you're right and maybe I can put them to use, I'm thinking GPS fish finder, stereo, etc.
At the helm about a foot or two below the steering wheel on the panel door I have a row of toggle switches that have jumpers between all of them. These switches on my boat have nothing connected to them except for one set of wires which may be what makes these toggles hot. Not sure yet on that...
I checked my panel and don't see anything. The only switch I have is on the interface other than the inverter itself. If I read things correctly I believe there is supposed to be an automatic switch that gets triggered when you're on shore power which converts the inverter into a battery...
Trust me, I'm no expert either. That said it's an interesting project trying to get this boat back in the water. The boat is pretty heavy, over 5000 lbs I believe. It fits what I want which is a decent sized boat that I can trailer. I'm also near the gulf of mexico in florida so I want to keep...
