    Official 215 Express Thread

Had an adventure this weekend on the river. We launched and were headed down to the sandbar to meet up with friends. About 1.5-2 miles down river while on plane the boat suddenly died and would not restart. I was thankful it was after we passed a large barge, but still we were only a few hundred...

    Official 215 Express Thread

I have an Alpha 1. As I get to know the boat a little more and see how it reacts I think it may have been just trimmed wrong. When I launched this weekend I was feeling a bit rushed and I trimmed it down out of the trailer position but not all the way down. When I pulled away from the dock and...

Cliff, I appreciate the response, the drive was trimmed all the way down so I am thinking I had some junk causing cavitation. I saw quite a bit of junk floating so it would not surprise me in the least if it was as petes105 was describing.

I have another newbie question for everyone. Yesterday we went for a trip down the sanitary and ship canal. There was quite a bit of debris floating and I was bobbing and weaving to avoid the junk. After about 8 miles I goosed the throttle a little to get the bow down and it stuck for a second...

New to boating, first night at marina

NorCal Boater, that is too funny. It was an adventure and we survived so I guess that is all that matters. Dave I am sorry our paths didn't cross on Saturday I would have liked to her more about your boat it looked very clean.

New to boating, first night at marina

Well we made it back after a great weekend. We saw Dave on Escape right across from us when we pulled in on Friday afternoon which was great. The Marina itself was very clean and had great ammenities. After we docked and got everything situated we setup the canvas enclosure for the first time...

Thanks for the heads up. Right now the wave forecast seems decent. Do you think viewing while docked at M Kinkey will be decent?

I recently replaced my freshwater pump which was cracked when I bought the boat. Is it normal for the pump to run each time a tap is used? I am assuming so as there is no pressure tank, I just wanted to be sure because I know the pump had a pressure switch.

New to boating, first night at marina

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. We had a great day at the sand bar along the Mississippi today. We usually head to the end of the bar where it is not as congested so I don't have to fight the current and beach next to two boats. Well as luck would have it that end was full and I had to...

New to boating, first night at marina

Thank you everyone. We are excited to have a home base for the show. We hope the big pond cooperates, but if not it will be fun to get to spend a night or two on the water. Everyone's suggestions are making me feel better about our adventure.

New to boating, first night at marina

We secured a slip at the Mckinkey Marina for July 14-16 to watch the Milwaukee air show. The whole boating experience is new to us as we have only had our 215 express cruiser for 11 months. I have a few questions below, and I am also open to any tips or tricks from the veterans: 1. The boat is...

    Official 215 Express Thread

All good replies, I appreciate everyone's help and have some work to do. I think my poor experience last year has just left me with some bad memories. I will start in he driveway and on the trailer and then may head out on a quiet day when I don't have to worry about an audience. I also find...

Mark, It is mainly shallow water anchoring in bays or on the river. I cloud the vet the old setup to stick last year, it seemed to skip along the bottom even with all of the rode payed out. I also had two unsuccessful anchoring attempts on Lake Michigan in shallow water 8-20'. The new ground...

OllieC, I am super new to boating and super paranoid that something is going to go wrong so I always check the bilge after we have been out for a bit and it is always dry. The one exception was the day where we were in and out of the water a lot and that water worked its way down below. Thank...

We trailer so it has never been an issue. I was replacing the dash bezel this weekend and it got me to wondering. The pump has only come once while we were boating and it was a day when we were in and out of the water as were the dogs. That time I flipped the switch at the helm and was surprised...

I have a silly question to ask being a newer boater. What position should the bilge pump switch be in? If the battery switch is on and the dash switch is off will the pump operate when needed via the float? And then the switch on the dash manually controls it? Thank you in advance

I appreciate everyone's advice. Cliff, I did find the screws were loose on the piano hinge, those are now tight to eliminate that as a possibility. I also am going to take Dennis & JP advice and secure the latch bolt in the down/locked position. Looking back it seems foolish to think that it...
