I have a riddle for everyone here. My boat (1982 Sea Ray Vanguard 310EC with Mercruiser 260 inboard engines; starboard engine replaced 3 years ago) has a problem with the starboard engine losing power and bogging after cruising for 45 minutes at around 26-2700rpm. I'm on plane at that point. It...
Can someone please tell me what props the 310 Vanguard Express came with? Mine supposedly came with 17x16 props, but the engines come up just shy of proper WOT RPM (3800-4200). It came with the 350cid inboards. WOT for them is 3700.
Do I need to go down to 17x15? About how much would those...
So my new boat (1982 Sea Ray Vanguard 310ec) has a Westerbeke 4bcg gas genset in it. It runs VERY rich under load, even without the flame arrestor on the carb. When I looked down the throat while it was running, the center jet was just DUMPING fuel down the throat. Not even a mist! Just a steady...
Does anyone know if a bimini top for a 1980s 270 Sundancer with a 10' beam will work for a 1984 Seadancer?
Trying to save some $$$ over a custom one and trying to see what my options might be.

How much of a problem is stringer rot in the pre-Brunswick Sea Rays? The stringers on my sea dancer look pretty thick and glassed in pretty well. When the boat was surveyed last year, the stringers were bone dry. How can I keep them that way?
The engines on my seadancer are both RWC. They have over 1600 hours on them but they have NEVER been anywhere near saltwater.
I've heard that high hour engines will have problems with a closed cooling conversion because of scale and rust building up and blocking the inner heat exchanger...
Is it possible to use the raw water pumps on my engines to suck antifreeze into the block instead of draining the block's? Draining the block's is a massive pain (literally) and if there is a way to avoid that it would be much better.
Thanks!
My starboard voltmeter on my 1984 Seadancer is dying a slow death. My mechanic has said the alternator is putting out the correct output, but the gauge is bad.
Does anyone know where I can find these 1980s vintage Teleflex Sea-Ray gauges?
If they aren't available anymore, can you suggest...
Does anyone know where I might find either an original factory bimini to work with my 1984 Seadancer (has 10ft beam) or an aftermarket one? I'd love to get one and I'm trying to avoid shelling out the $$$ for a totally custom job.
My Seadancer has 2 deep cycle batteries installed between the two inboard stringers in the bilge. I think ABYC and the Coast Guard both require that they be tied down somehow. Is that possible where they are, or do I need to move them elsewhere on the boat?
Has anyone else dealt with this...
I've taken my first few cruises with my SeaDancer. Man alive what a boat! It turns me into a little kid again!
It's on the Tennessee River right now, and will probably stay there. It is fast as everything too! I usually cruise at about 2800 with the twin 350 inboards at about 18kts. The...
Any idea what causes this and how to fix it? I've heard it's a common problem. How much $$$? You are looking at the port outboard side between the stringer and the fuel tank.
I also sounded down there with the butt-end of a screwdriver, and it sounds rock solid. No delamination or disbonding.
What should my max RPM be on those engines? My Mercruiser manual says 3800-4200. That seems on the low side for a pair of 350s! I run at 42-4300 "on the pins" currently with a dirty bottom. With a good bottom job I bet they will come up to 44-4500 rpm, and I want to make sure I'm not...
Here are some pics of my new (to me) 1984 Sea Ray Seadancer 270. It has been VERY well maintained and it definitely shows! All of the interior was redone in 2007 and the custom seats in the cockpit were also added at that time. Let me know what you think...
The battery charger in my new (to me) 1984 Sea Ray Seadancer SRV-270 failed some time ago and was disconnected by the previous owner. I'm not sure what the brand is, but it is black, 30amp, and it is wired directly to the breaker on the "outlets" breaker. I want to move it to its own breaker...
Hello to all and thank you for letting me aboard!
I'm in the market for a smallish pocket cruiser and recently came upon a 1984 Sea Ray Seadancer SRV270. This is a rare model with probably only 100 made. The thing that appeals to me most is that it has 2 Mercruiser 350 direct-drive inboards. It...
