    Tenn-Tom northbound

Thanks Tim. Based on your comments and what a couple of other folk have told me I think I will revise my plan. Next trip will probably be the ICW over to St Joe's bay and then on to Appalach. Been in St Joe's on a sail boat and meant to get back in something with less draft.

Pics from quite a trip home

Thanks for the note re: the ten-tom thread. I am anticipating that trip in the spring. Will get a copy of the guide you recommended. Have already ordered electronic inland waterway charts. I know most of the gulf coast by heart so if you ever want some recommendations....give me a shout. Johng

    Tenn-Tom northbound

I am told the first stretch northbound from Mobile isn't too pleasant and has few if any places to stop over. What did you think of that portion? How much time did you spend on the lower segments? Your general impressions would be appreciated. thanks Johng

    Tenn-Tom northbound

Considering a northbound trek up the TenTomBlack Warrior beginning in Mobile. Anybody done that? Would love to hear about it. Thinking about heading north for a week or so, leaving the boat at a marina for a few weeks, then taking it another week or so north. Any thoughts would be welcome...

    Genset time

A fairly recent aquisition, an older 415 aft cabin, has a westerbeke genset. It runs smoothly and seems to carry the load okay, but the meter on it says it has more than 4,000 hours. I find that a bit hard to believe. A friend told me the meter runs even when the engine isn't running, if the...

Old boater, new boat. SR 415 new to the forum

Thanks, I'm not in the boat to go fast, just comfortable. I will miss the economies of the blow-boat world, but as they say a boat is a hole in the water..... Will do some pics when next home. Currently about 140 miles out in the GOM on a somewhat larger vessel. Due home first week Nov., just in...

    New To Me In FL.

Good to see so many Florida folks. Can see I need to have some pics to post. Will have to tend to that next time home in Pensacola. Thinking about doing some inland river cruising. Anybody gone northbound on the Tenn-Tom?

Old boater, new boat. SR 415 new to the forum

Recently purchased Sunshine in Pensacola, FL., generally known as paradise. Still have to part with 33 sailing vessel. Will miss it, but won't miss the sail work. I am not too old, just getting lazy. Any other 415 owners around, Florida or any where?Got a lot to learn about the new boat. Am a...

    Single Engine Maneuvering vs Alternatives

Many small twins can be walked. Rudders over opposite the direction you want to go, outboard engine ahead, inboard engine astern. The astern engine will require quite a bit more power. Boat will move toward the inboard side. Of course don't try this at a dock without practicing in open water...
