Has anyone changed a mechanical fuel pump to an electric? 454 cu in with carbs . How big a job to do this?

I've got a 454 cu in engine with a carburetor , that I have had to replace the mechanical fuel pump twice in 5 years . the arm gets flatten out then the cam doesn't engage the arm . I'm deciding to replace it with an electric pump. Has anyone done this before? I'll need to get a plate to close...

I'm trying to remove the cover of a QS 5.0 generator to replace the belt. that's in my 1993 33' Sundancer . I got the thumb nut off , but the cover has no room to move up and out. What's the solution?
