    Newly-installed Mercruiser 5.0 won't start...

Hi all. 1981 Vanguard 310 with twin 5.0s I went through a lengthy process to get two remanned engines put in last year. Boat finally went back in the water last fall. Unfortunately, I travel extensively for work so this week is the first time I've been out to the lake to use her this year...

    Fairport Harbor, OH?

Any members here have slips in Fairport Harbor? I'm up here for work and yesterday I drove around a little bit, despite the nasty weather. I saw a few gorgeous classics docked along Riverbend and at HTR right on the lake. Hopefully none of them were bothered by the storm surge. I saw one small...

    Deadrise angle?

I've looked all over trying to find this info, with no luck. I have a 1981 Vanguard 310 Express and I need to know the deadrise angle of the hull to order a thru-hull transducer. Stupidly, I forgot to measure it last time I was out at the boat. :smt021 I want to get it installed while the boat...

WTB - Shift and throttle levers for a twin-engine 1980s cruiser

I'm looking for the shift levers and throttle levers for a 1981 310 Vanguard. I'd like to install original-ish parts if possible, but really any lever set that is built for non-electronic engine controls would work. My engines are inboards, so no trim switches needed. Thanks for looking! Evan

Update on my (now un-named) 310 Vanguard

It has been an eventful winter/spring! Recap: I purchased a 1981 Vanguard 310 in July of last year. The interior was in quite a state (tobacco tar stains on all the vinyl, interior hadn't been cleaned in ages, ragged carpet, etc) and the engines didn't seem to be quite right (~2800 rpms @...

    I hope I'm not f***ed!

Technical information: Sea Ray 310 Express running twin MerCruiser 5.7L straght-drive inboards with closed-loop cooling. Engines are (to the best of my knowledge) 1981-vintage and have just slightly less than 2000 hours on them. Well-maintained, from what I can gather. PO was a navy mechanic and...

    Any Kerr Lake Boaters?

Anybody got a boat on Kerr Lake? I'm docked on the NC end of the lake, just south of the VA border. There are some nice Sea Ray boats in my marina (Inconspicuous out of Cary, if you're on here I love your 400!) but I'd like to find some fellow CSR members in my area.

    Can't get on plane?!?!

Hi all! I'm running twin 260 (I think) Mercruisers, circa 1981. I have a power problem that I can't even begin to diagnose. With the throttles wide open, I'm running right around 3500rpm and 25ish mph. At this rpm and speed, I'm WAAAY back on the stern. In order to flatten the bow out I have...

    1981 Vanguard Express Questions

Hi all! I ended up buying the 310 Express last weekend. We dug in hard on the interior this weekend, and after two full days of scrubbing she looks great. One of the PO's was a smoker and the cigarette tar was quite a chore to clear from the vinyl. (Word to the wise, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers are...

    New member, new (old) boat!

Hi all! My name is Evan, and I'm beyond excited to be joining the ranks of Sea Ray owners. I just purchased a 1981 310 Express. It runs twin straight-drive 5.7L Mercruiser V8s and is outfitted with new electronics, upgraded instruments, and 200-gallon fuel capacity. I've never owned...

Looking at purchasing... What should I be looking at?

Hi all. First time poster. I'm currently in the market for an older Sea Ray. It was always my father's dream to own a 32 or 36 for intracoastal cruising. In keeping with his memory, I'm looking at a 1981 310 Express. I have an appointment to look at the boat this week and I'm hoping for some...
