The 4 wires are individual. One set is male and the other female. They go into a plastic snap closed flat connector, but can go in any order. The handle end goes in logically to stay flat. The switch ends can go in any order.
I removed the throttle control lever to recover the side panel on my '87 Seville BR. I assumed the trim/tilts switch on the lever had matching wires, but it doesn't. It's a Quicksilver single lever with a tilt/trim switch with trailer mode switch on the handle.
The actual switch has a short set...
I saw one reply that said just run it until it gets a lot worse. That's not a bad plan. If your bilge pump is working, why not enjoy the boat as long as it lasts and then part it out or fix it if you want?
i paid $1500 for my '87 Seville. It has a similar leak, but not as much water as you're...
No, something simple like a plastic funnel connected to a piece of plastic tubing. Put the tubing through the hull drain hole and into a gallon jug. Hold the funnel under the oil pan and remove the drain plug, if there was one...very simple.
As I'm doing the oil change on my '87 Sea Ray Seville I'm thinking "who came up with this design?" I have to pump the oil (all 4.5 quarts) out of the dipstick tube through an impossibly small hose. There's no way to get all of the oil out. There's no drain plug to even give one the option of...
My Searay owners manual says to winterize, I need to drain the water from the engine, everywhere. The majority of stuff I see online says to flush with marine anti freeze and leave it in the motor.
i understand that draining and leaving empty could accelerate corrosion, but is that why the anti...
I did some checking and found the transom shift cable is red, so it's the newer style. The ESA switch clicks when I move the lever in and out of gear (motor off).
Next thing I'll check is the same test with motor running to see if the ESA does anything.
I'm looking for the model number on my 4.3 V6 OMC.
The research I've done says it should be on what looks like thermostat housing. There's nothing there, nor on the valve covers.
Is there another place to look, or if the ID plate is gone, is there a way to figure it out?
It should be one of...
As promised, here are photos of the '87 Seville BR I bought a week ago. This is how it looked when I got it.
I've already removed the trolling motor and fishing seat mount in the bow, polished the hull and the the trailer wheels, fixed a bunch of odds and ends and taken out for about an hour on...
I just bought an '87 Seville 19 bow rider in great shape. Got a smok'n deal with water toys etc.
It ran great the one time I've taken ot out, so far. A little water leak from the exhaust bellows which I tightened.
I have two questions, now...
1-Are the stress cracks near the drain plug...
I need to replace the carpet on the bunks on my trailer.
I'm planning to do one side at a time.
is it possible to jack up the boat while on the trailer?
I'll make a wood cradle to fit the keel and use a floor jack so I can hopefully slip the bunks out for re-carpeting.
i would jack it up...
Thanks everyone!
It has a tandem axle trailer with surge brakes, but they need to be look at - not working.
The boat is a CA boat. It started life as the ranger's boat at Lake Casitas. The 2nd owners bought it in 94 and took it to Truckee, CA. It spent all winter in a garage. They added a...
I just picked up (yesterday 9-11-13) a 1987 Seville 19 foot open bow that's in great shape. The gel coat is a little faded, but I've already started rubbing it out.
It has the V-6 4.3l with a OMC Cobra outdrive. Everything works and it came with the original canvas and a ton of water toys. I...
