Thanks for the reply. I was leaning toward something with the shift cable. Would like to wait till boat out for the season. I haven't shifted without engine running unless it stalled out in gear. Is it possible to get drive out of gear when engine is off? Like stalled in gear?

Thanks for the reply. It did corrode away. Had both ends and bolt was gone in the middle. Had to drill / grind it out. New bolt would not tighten enough to take out the play. I have he older alpha on gen one and can' do the kit. How hard is it to pull the engine? Thanks Rick

Hi Members, I am working on restoration of a 1989 Sea Ray 200 Cuddy with 4.3 v6 and alpha 1 stern drive. I need to replace the steering lever. The bolt to tighten was broken and seems to have worn the lever. Need to replace lever and pin. Will I need to pull engine to fix? Thanks all, Rick
