My starboard outdrive steering shaft/gimbal ring may be required to replace due to increased play. Does anyone have experience with the repair/replacement? Is it a repair which can be made in the water or must it be out. Also, any idea on costs for work to be carried out? Thanks.

Henry, Thanks. I got back down there. I figured it was a GFI just couldn't find the one for aft outlets. Finally found it or remembered it was in the cabinet in the head. Thanks for keeping me thinking.

bajturner, Thanks so much for that. It looked like a great install. I'd like to put a decent one in but in the end this will be for a new owner as she will be going up for sale shortly. Thanks for the feedback.

I would like to replace my original Raymarine 215 VHF radio as my mic cord has virtually disintegrated plus a little update would be nice. Does anyone have a recommendation for a similar sized radio? Also, in general do you have to replace the whip antenna when you change radios or are they...

    Vineyard - Fuel

Yeah I use Sakonnet as an escape route on the return. It is nice to duck in there if conditions are not ideal in the bay. Hope it turns out good for you. Keep us posted.

    Vineyard - Fuel

Gus, I came down the west side of Prudence then crossing over into the east passage and out of Newport. Once out of the bay a mile or so headed straight for Vineyard sound just south of B-Bay tower. Its best to come out of the bay a bit before turning east to avoid the fish traps. Its not...

    Vineyard - Fuel

I was just made aware Oak Bluffs no longer has a fuel dock. They said I would have to get it in Vineyard Haven. Where is the easiest access fuel dock in Vineyard Haven? I'll be headed out in the morning.

mpmiller, We installed one of the A3120's today and turned it on. Light did not work, we swapped wiring to confirm correct polarity, still nothing. We then tried the second light I had purchased and same thing, nothing. During each test the existing arch light which had not been removed...

Thanks mpmiller, I didn't have the owners manual with me at the time but now reading at home and mentions that it is in the Bilge DC Breaker box but your location description is much better. I'll check it out in the morning and grab a pic while I'm in there. Hopefully that is what it is.

Took a cruise out in the bay today and anchored up. I ran out the anchor on the windlass from the helm controls without issue. I walked up to the bow to check the lead of the line and wanted to pay out some more line. I used the foot pedal on the bow to pay out the line. Shortly after...

Later, I replaced my risers a couple of years ago. The manifold was in good shape at time of inspection. If I recall correctly the work to replace the risers was around $3200-3700. If the manifold had needed to be changed I believe it was going to be total for both about $5,000...

mpmiller, Do you know if these would work in the 2003 280? If not do you know how best how to cross reference with the Aperion LEDs? Also how do you switch between the individual colors? Is it a switch on the lights themselves? Thanks.
