FSUDELT,
I should have looked at your signature. A 310 would probably be too big to tie up at Indigo Reef. Right around the corner though is Boat House Marina (still in Marathon)which can accomodate up to 55' and has some transient slips. It was built by the same people as Indigo Reef and is...
Try Indigo Reef in Marathon. You can dock up to a 30' boat behind your condo. The accomodations are far superior to Hawks Cay up on Duck Key. Vaca cut is 5 minutes away so you're quickly in the Atlantic if you want and Sombrero Reef (one of the best) is 8 miles off shore. Trust me, you'll love...
There is very little room on the transom of our new Sundeck to apply a boat name and what room there is will require removal of the plastic model number and engine size badges. Has anyone ever done this before? Are these items just applied with adhesive? Can they be removed without damaging the...
I just purchased a 2009 210 Sundeck that came with an aluminum, 2008, dual axle, Magic Tilt trailer with surge brakes and LED lights. When I connect the wiring from the trailer to my tow vehicle (a 2007 BMW X5) the trailer lights flash continuously and the brakes do not automatically disengage...
I have now seen several of these boats in Florida dealerships and all have been equipped with the VisionAir mesh seats. I have yet to find a salesperson with any experience with them. They all seem to say the same thing: "they're new but Sea Ray always tests its products extensively before...
Forgive my incompetence but I sent this to the wrong forum initially. I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with VisionAir seats. They are much more comfortable than the standard seating but seem vulnerable to tears.
Has anyone purchased a boat with VisionAir seats who can offer the benefit of their experience with them? I find them much more comfortable than the standard seats but the mesh seems very prone to tears.
I'm not sure of the specifications but note the beam on the 290 Amberjack is 10'6" while that of the 310 is 10'5". I'm guessing it would be in that range and probably closer to 10'. That is, however, pure speculation on my part.
There have been rumors on this site in the past of a redesigned 290 for 2009. The conventional wisdom has been that the 280 will be phased out, the controversial cockpit configuration of the current 290 reconfigured and the best of both models combined into a new boat. I have also heard the...
I stand corrected. I assumed cockpit seating was bolted onto the floor. What you said makes sense if its integrated. BTW, I did go onto the other thread but found it lacking in substantive criticism of anything other than cockpit configuration.
So the only criticism that would apply to the 2008 model is cockpit configuration? Why would they destroy the mold and abandon design cues replicated in the 310, 330 and 380 (and I believe the new 350) to remedy one of the easiest components to change? Seating is an easy fix.
I am considering the purchase of an '08 290 DA and bewildered by the posts criticizing the boat's design or suggesting Sea Ray intends to destroy the mold. For any car enthusiasts out there it reminds me a lot of the Chris Bangle controversy when he revolutionized the design of BMWs. The guy was...
Thanks to all who took the time to respond. This was my first post on the site and I'm impressed with how helpful everyone has been. Lots of good advice.
The standard set up for the 290 are 4.3 Bravo 3s (as opposed to Alphas). We're in Florida so the boat will be used up and down the east coast and probably once a year to the Bahamas. I can't really see myself comfortably operating this boat much above 30 mph for any extended period of time but...
I am in the market for a '08 290 DA and trying to determine whether to spend the extra money to upgrade to twin 5.0 Bravo 3s. Anyone out there with twin 4.3's willing to share your experience and level of satisfaction with this set up? I'd really appreciate hearing from you.
I read these posts with interest as I am considering purchasing a 2008 290 DA and uncertain whether to go with the 4.3 Bravo IIIs or upgrade to the 5.0s. Anyone aware of a published boat test comparing the two? I'd also love to hear from any owners of a 2006-2008 290 equipped with 4.3s - are you...
