I've been wanting to mount an ACR RCL-100D searchlight to my 1995 270 for a few years now, but as many of you probably know it isnt too easy to find a mounting place for spotlight on one of these boats if the boat didnt come with one from the factory. This year I've finally taken the time to...
I did find the distribution panel, now I'm just trying to figure out how to feed power to the 15 amp breaker I'm adding. My first thought is to run a wire off of the battery switch and feed it from that. Is that a pretty sound plan, or do you have any better ideas?
Good advice Grand Master, I was concerned with the same thing regarding going direct to the battery. There is a fuse panel right at the helm underneath the steering wheel; is this what you're talking about when you say the 12V distribution panel? The only other electrical panel I'm aware of is...
I got a pretty good deal on a used ACR search light and am trying to intall it on my 95 Sundancer 270. The problem is that I have a much greater understanding of the mechanical aspects of this boat than the electrical aspects. This boat is a 12V system with a single 7.4L engine. I'm hoping that...
390X- Fantastic price, I'm glad I asked!!
HUMPH- I actually did use chemical stripper to remove most of the paint, but the primer stayed on in most spots, AND it turns out the gloss was never taken off of the original gelcoat. I'm putting the interprotect barrier on and I thought it said to...
Thanks for the advice 390! I haven't seen anything by Presta locally in stores, so I guess itll be an online purchase. Does $29.99 for a 32oz bottle of this stuff sound reasonable to you?
My boat had at least 15 layers of paint on it when I bought it, so I thought it was time to strip it all off and start fresh. I'm doing the final sanding before priming with 80 grit on an orbital sander. The problem is that I accidentally hit a few places with the sander near and above the...
Hi Bob&Sue, I'm interested. I've got a 95 but I'm hopeful that the wiring diagrams will be similar enough to help me out. I'll PM my shipping info to you for a quote.
Duck, have you turned the valve? I have the same thing in the starboard side locker and it is the transom shower valve. It pumps water from the onboard fresh water tank. This is the firs thought that comes to my mind without seeing exactly where it is.
Congrats! I'm jealous; I'm still a few weeks out. Where are you keeping her? Mine came from Bay Pointe Marina in Quincy originally, but is going to be in RI now. Bay Pointe was an amazing place!
I did this the other day to remove the name on the stern and did get some of those burn marks. They look like light-brown smudges. I've tried acetone, rubbing compound, and polishing compound to get that off and no avail. I was thinking about trying muriatic acid next. Any ideas on how to...
I confirmed on my boat that the male fitting I was thinking of is indeed on the bell housing. Thats keeping your oil in! The female fitting on the drive does the same thing to keep the oil in the drive.
It was a choice between "Hydrotherapy" and "Siren's Song" I went with "Siren's Song"! People don't seem to understand it in general; they think of an ambulance and look at me funny... Isn't anybody familiar with mythology anymore??
I was second-guessing myself because I remember seeing the same thing on a youtube video when they were taking the drive off. I can't use myself as an example because my bottle was empty when I took the drive off. Now I can't remember whether the nipple is on the bell housing or on the drive...
There is a nipple on the bell housing that prevents the oil from flowing out with the drive disconnected. There is a tiny button on it that depresses when the appropriate fitting in the drive is attached and lets the oil flow. You should be able to push it in with your finger to test if oil...
I'm with Ed. I'm assuming you're in salt water since you're on Long Island. You're going to get alot of growth on there if you keep your boat in the water.
Ed, nice to see a fellow Rhode Islander on here!
Thanks for the input Jeff and Jim!
Does anyone know where I would find the make and model number on the toilet? I'm nearly certain its a Jabsco, but I want to find the exact model number for parts lookup. I took a quick look the other day and didnt notice anything... I'll look harder over...
