    Sad Panda! Early season end??

Due to extremely low water levels, I am thinking I have to pull the boat out early... like a month early. Every weekend the water has dropped another 2" or so. Last year I pulled out after Columbus weekend, this year... maybe in 2 weeks! Anyone else in the low water problem areas? Dock...

Trim senders ... needed to be installed?

Of course the trim sender screws were all frozen... two heads broke off, and I actually got frustrated and ripped off the other two senders. (they were all bad) QUESTION: I'm not planning on installing new senders... Will it be fine to not have any sender on? I know they cover the hinge...

    Sears Diehard Battery Warranty ISSUE!

I have a Sears Marine 31 AGM Platinum battery. It comes with a 36 month full replacement warranty, and costs $279. I bought it in May(ish) and after getting it back from the shop had a voltage of 2.0 volts. My on board charger, and a separate charger I have didn't register it as a battery. I...

    Gimbal Bearing question

I removed both sterndrives, and was feeling the bearings. I noticed on both of the drives bearings just behind them is a gap that has what feels like some o-rings that are loose. The space seems to be about 1/4 of an inch. Is this normal? I put grease in the filler nipple to make sure the...

Project for next week... 2 NEW SEI sterndrives install.. advice??

Because I'm cheap, (and the shop the boat is at will not install non-mercruiser drives) I am going to attempt this myself. Advice is appreciated!! One drive is already removed, I'll be removing the other drive myself. I purchased new bellows kits which include the gimbal bearing. This honestly...

    Alpha one 1.50 vs 1.47

My drives are / were Alpha 1 gen 1 at 1.50:1 ratio. A replacement drive is 1.47:1 Is it bad mojo to have one drive new at 1.47 and one old at 1.50 ? Is the 0.03 difference really an issue or is the issue more of mixing an old and new drive? thanks,

    Insurance Claim

Not sure if this would interest anyone, but after finding the bottom of the river, I am making an insurance claim for repairs. I would post the findings, and the overall experiance from start to finish if anyone is interested. *Cause: direct hit bottom of river at about 7mph. with port engine...

Found the bottom of the river

I found the bottom of the river with my port sterndrive! YES its still there ( the bottom of the river). I wasnt going fast, but I think the drive is damaged. The prop needed to be replaced (with spare). We were able to get back to dock with no problem after I replaced the prop. Now strange...

Renting out trailer.. bad or good idea?

So.. I have a nice tri-axle trailer just sitting for the season. My initial thought is to rent it out. Of course, have a rental agreement, damage (lack there of) sheet, release of liability, and requiring proof of ID and insurance and a nice deposit. Local marinia said I could make a killing...

    What would you do...

Went to Picton Island and anchored.. its a fairly popular swimming / family / party area. Mid afternoon the college kids roll in with their 'my xxx is small so I'm compensating (loudly) boat' as well as the required 4 jet ski's. The JetSki's of course HAVE to show EVERYONE that they can't...

    Water system issue

Not sure where to start on this issue... is it something major.. or simple.. Have a full fresh water tank, and turn the water system on. NORMALLY it pressurizes and pump turns off. I could leave it like that forever. NOW.. water starts squirting out the shore water hook up hole, like a...

    Benifit of two engines..

One of the drawbacks of two engines has to be two sets of parts. Twice the chances of something going wrong. BUT this time it worked in my favor. The PO at some point noticed his power steering cooler broke and water was pouring in the bilge. SO he bypassed the cooler with hose, and PVC home...

    Amazing battery charger (so far)

I -had- The Schumacher Ship'n Shore SS-15A3. This charger caught on fire and was totally water logged inside. Fortunately, I was playing with the engines when it blew. I bought a Noco Genius 4 bank 40a charger. I tested it at home by the worst possible situation I could come up with that...

    3 bank battery charger

If your looking for a 3 bank battery charger.... The Schumacher Ship'n Shore SS-15A3 is NOT the one to get. It is NOT water proof, and doesn't seem to be water resistant either. Fortunately I was looking for leaks in the bilge when my wife turned on the shore power... the battery charger...

replace the Trim sensors or not...

Since I'm removing the outdrive anyway... should I bother replacing the trim sender and position switches? If I do, I'll have one trim that works like it should, and one that would still need the trailer button to raise. I can live without them working on the throttle, but figured.. since I'm...

    Shift Cable replacement

I swear I read somewhere (in a post here) that there was a problem with new shift cable versions replacing the older versions on Alpha One Drives. I tried a search but failed. Anyone have any information on this? thanks!
