I changed the holding tank vent filter. I had that nasty smell from the hot water heater at the beginning of the season but after flushing the fresh water system several times with a chlorine beach solution the fresh water system hot and cold is odor free.

I have inspected the bilge that is accessible and thoroughly cleaned it with a bathroom cleaner that kills mold and has bleach added. The boat sits on a cradle and requires a ladder to get aboard. I don't think I have a dead critter, but I'll check again.

I just replaced the main two hoses-to the vacuum generator and from the vacuum gen to the holding tank. No change.

The smell is different than that, but I did think to check that. The system volts remains at 14.2 while operating the vessel, batteries show no signs of bulging and no rotten egg odor (per my nose) in that area. My boat is stored high and dry, the smell continues to build in the...
I have a '97 270 Sundancer. I am getting a foul odor that I thought was coming from the holding tank. I have replaced the vent filter, the hose to the vacuum generator and the hose to the holding tank. I use holding tank chemicals regularly. I wiped down all components of the Sealand vacuflush...
After talking to the owner of Swim Platforms, Bennett Trim Tabs, several marine mechanics and other 270 owners, I came to the conclusion that the 22p prop set was the direction to go. True, 24p props were used on this model from the factory but since this boat was designed prior to ethanol...
Thanks for the info. I am presently running a 24p prop set and the rpm at WOT is approx 4200. I am hoping that a 22p prop set will allow the rpm to increase to the recommended 4600, which should also allow for a better hole shot and an increase in top end speed.

I have been told that the 1997 270 is a much heavier boat than those starting in 1998 and newer. Not sure how that affects my issue. Hopefully the 22p props will solve the issue, and that I can find a used set, since new are around $1000.

I purchased the boat in March, when I did my sea trial there were three aboard and very little fluids and only about 30 gallons of fuel. The boat seemed to get up on plane okay. Since then I added a custom swim platform designed for this model and year that extends 26 inches. A normal load with...
I just purchased a 97 Sea Ray Sundancer 270 DA. The Bomar port light screens need replacing. I emailed Bomar customer service several times but no response.
I have not attempted to remove the screens. Does anyone know if kits are availbale or what is involved with removing the existing screens?
