$75 each INCLUDING shipping via USPS. I have two of them. Same unit in standard and counter-rotating engines. Assembly part # is 805185A36 [new #] or 90747A3 [old #]. Assembly is used, but cap, rotor and wires are nearly new, less than 10 hours. Last year I replaced Thunderbolt-IV ignition...
If you have a bad Thunderbolt-IV module, bite the bullet and install a new ignition system rather than replace the bad module. Here is why:
1) COST- a new T-bolt-IV module, if you can find one, is going to be north of $300, if you can find it. A used one is...USED; how long is it going to last...
Mercruiser T-bolt ignition distrib sensor wires
I had a bad Thunderbolt-IV module, so I replaced the ignition system in both engines. These parts came from a 1987 Mercruiser 454 Bluewater inboard. Parts available are:
2 sets of Distributors with caps and rotors, Mercruiser part #805185A36-...
Neither had I, until last Sunday. There is now one on a boat lift across the creek from my marina. Looks to be of 1970's vintage, about 20-22 feet, with an i/o. I saw a 1970's Sea Ray center console about 5 years ago, but never saw a walkaround.
Trying to help a friend fix his 330 generator
Coolant boils out past the pressure cap. Cap has been replaced, thermostat and impeller replaced, and it has very strong raw water flow. The only other thing I can think of is a head gasket leak allowing exhaust gases to pressurize the antifreeze...
Getting ready to install Allure on the salon deck of my boat, and the issue I expect to have is the hatches. My hatches have rounded, bullnose edges, PLUS they have rounded corners. I have two curved stair edges, too.
I am looking for practical advice on how to finish these edges. I have...
Do all of these have v-drives, or are some available with straight drives ?
How hard is maintenance and access [especially shaft packing] with the v-drives ?
Can someone recommend a surveyor along the central New Jersey Shore who has some experience with 1970's Sea Rays. Preferably someone you have direct knowledge of rather than dock scuttlebutt.
What are central Jersey surveyors charging per foot these days?
I have read a few posts here and other sites about the exhaust boxes for the '70's 30 footers with inboards. These are the fiberglass boxes built into the hull at each corner of the rear bilge where the side exhaust exits the hull.
Are these chronic problems ? How would one know they are bad...
Has anyone here tried painting the interior wood paneling in a 1970's Sea Ray ?
If so, how did it turn out ? Any pictures [before and after] you can send ?
Are you satisfied with it ?
I have no affiliation with this boat, but is is just a cool old Sea Ray.

Looked at a mid-80's Sea Ray over the weekend. It had a remarkably clean bilge; I accidentally dropped my sunglasses in a bit of rainwater close to the transom, and the lenses were not oily when I cleaned them.
Despite the clean bilge, the rudder posts were both heavily corroded, with rust...

Does anyone recognize the boat in this craigslist ad ??
http://norfolk.craigslist.org/boa/1612838670.html
It looks identical to the SRV240 hardtop I sold last year, but the ad says it is 28' long. Of course to complicate things the Sea Ray archives do not indicate a 28' boat in 1979.
With a...
In my quest for the next boat, I am considering the Vanguard along with the Weekender. The Vanguard was made from 1980-1983. It was basically a Weekender stretched out to 31', and it has an integrated fiberglass bow pulpit rather than the teak one common on Weekenders.
I am interested in any...
Anyone here have any real world experience replacing twin 233 hp Merc 351 Fords with 350 GM in a 1970's Weekender ?
What I am concerned about, obviously, is cost. Do I have to do any structural changes to stringers, bulkheads, etc. to mount the engines ? Would it require a different...
