    Vent Window Actuator

Thanks guys - I tested directly with the power source and the new actuator was fine. I did find that the old quick connect was inconsistent in sending power so I'll replace that - just a bad connection there. Now to find the right spray paint for the actuator cover, as I'm going to touch that...

    Vent Window Actuator

I ordered a new vent actuator from Progressive Automations, wired it up and it didn't operate in either direction. The old one worked most of the time, most often when it was warmer weather, so I don't think it's the switch. I could understand if I'd reversed the two wires and it went the...

    SW Florida Marinas

Certainly check out Caladesi Island - it's a state park with on an undeveloped island only accessible by boat. There is a 100 slip marina with power and water with fees of only $1/foot for overnight with power. One of the best beaches in the country is a 3 minute walk across the island from...

    Chartering in the Virgin Islands

I've not been myself but have several friends who have done this and all report a great time. I would definitely check into the MarineMax vacation group as the Aquila power cats are great boats, seem newer than most fleets, and if you're already a MM customer there's the relationship. Of...

Replaced SystemView with VesselView 7 - Persistent Error

Just had my old SystemView display replaced as the screen was no longer readable. I put in the new Vessel View 7 but seem to be getting a persistent error that I cannot clear. Error reads: FUEL LVL2 CKT HI Port Engine (then there's another error for Stbd) Fuel tank config is setup correctly...

Black soot around exhaust port on one engine

I experienced this and it turned out to be the oil coolers - found out after changing plugs, etc. Check oil levels for a hint but if not changed in recent history worth replacing.

    Central Vac Canister Location

I have a different model boat but on the 340s the central vac canister is accessed from within a cabinet under the lower shelving. The location for ours is next to the aft bench on the port side - there are double doors cabinet storage over there and you open those, take out all the stuff the...

Anyone use Barnacle Buster to clean AC lines or Generator?

You may want to tray to back-flush from your strainer - I occasionally get debris / grass in the hull intake and it's pretty narrow so can get clogged easily, the clog can occur at the intake so it does not make it to the strainer. I've found that if I open the strainer cap, remove the strainer...

Floridays - contact Lewis at All Marine Canvas, they do excellent work. Won't be the cheapest you will find but I've used them and many friends have also and everyone says their work is top notch. All Marine Canvas Inc. 12087 62nd Street North Suite 3...

    Pushbutton ID

The rectangular box with the squiggly line is Sea Ray's illustration of a water tank. The button is wired to control the fresh water pump on some boats but on many other boats the button is there but is not wired to anything. The manuals often don't mention this at all in even in the boats...

    Checking Shaft Alignment as Maintenance???

Excellent thread and very timely for an issue I'd like Frank's (and others) feedback on. But first, I can confirm the 8.1s have a sort of audial pulsing at cruise speed, I hear it usually when the engines are in sync and the water's smooth - it's a sign all is well to me :) For the past month...

    Cold Starting Kohler 5E

My 340 (2003) has a 5E and the rocker switches are as described where the Start is on the top end of one and Preheat/Stop is on the bottom of the same switch - they cannot both be activated at the same time as they are opposite ends of the same switch. Several years ago during my captain...

Sea Ray brings back the 450DA

With the way Sea Ray branding is going I predict it won't be too long before they begin counting the anchor chain/rode length in the model designation. I'm loving my 1340!

    2009 Patriot Cruise and Salute

Skip - great story, thanks for doing this and for sharing it with us. I can't think of a better way to burn some fuel. I've stopped by Prince William marina while visiting family just to see what non-MarineMax dealers are like. They seemed to be a great dealer and they're truly top-notch if...
