    Rant: Sea Ray Engineers/Designers

Know how to change the starter on a Cadillac Norstar V8? You have to pull the intake manifold, it's in the lifter valley, concealed...it's not just Sea Ray, and it's not just boats....

SeaRay 510 / Fuel Gauge problem

Just somebody with experience working on Sea Rays who usually is working, not on forums, took a minute to surf and saw something I could help with. That's all.

SeaRay 510 / Fuel Gauge problem

It is a CAN buss system. The port gauge will only read port, and the stbd gauge will only read stb, no matter what side you plug it into. When you swap to the other side it is reading the sender from that side. Meaning the port specific gauge will only read port data, on either port or stbd...

Do Sea Ray Hulls Have Delamination Problems?

If you have 40 years working in laying up fiberglass, you should know that tapping a hull gives very little insight unless there is an issue that is so bad you can alsmot see with the naked eye. You could be tapping in the area of a hollow stringer, a compartment or where a tie in, gusset, or...

    smartphones....worth it or not?

No matter what smartphone you get you'll still wish it did something, open a particular file etc. They have a lot of apps and are fun, but sometimes you wish it did more, and for what you pay for the phone and the services, it can disappoint at times. It also can become a time waster as well.

    Fibreglass cracks in bilge 340DA

It looks like the raw fiberglass wasn't prepped (sanded/scuffed) in that area, and could also be thick bilge gel that just cracked due to the thickness and not bonding for lack of prep. Peel it off, sand it with some 40 grit to rough it up and get some bilge gel from Spectrum Color and call it a...

    Why are SR's so expensive?

I don't think it's a heated logo, I think al Gore waived his hand over it and said "See what I'm talking about, global warming I tell you!!!!"

    New Buffer

5000 RPM way to fast for buffing. I like Dewalt adjustable RPM buffers personally. Most compounding is done at approximately 1800-2500, and polishing at 3000+. A lot of times I will mist the surface with water during the polishing phase it keeps the heat down and produces a better shine.

Add a crane to the bow of a 480 DB ?

Because the thread is about a 480DB, in which they do have capacity to carry a dinghy....so to my point why would a manufacture be giving a BS answer on a 480DB when they didn't design it that way in the first place...

Add a crane to the bow of a 480 DB ?

Why would this be a bogus answer from Sea Ray? If they never intended or designed it to be that way, what do you expect? It would be like calling Ford and telling them you want to mount a Focus on the hood of your F250 and expect them to tell you the weight capacity of your hood...especially...
