    Barnacles

I was out this past Sunday and one of my friends had his scuba gear with him. I decided to take a quick dive to check out my boat. The hull was fine but my trim tabs were completely encrusted in barnacles and I also had some on the outdrives and the props. I scrapped everything clean and the...

    Converting from porta poti

Actually using seawater for flushing creates a much bigger stink believe it or not. I currently have a manual pump head but the raw water seacock has been closed and I use the freshwater from the shower-head when I flush/pump (as do many people I know). My plan is to pickup an electric head...

Re-dye interior cushions with SEM products

That looks fantastic. I was actually thinking about dyeing the vinyl around the cockpit but didn't know there was a marine specific product. I just checked SEM's site and it looks like my local parts guy is a dealer, so I'll be speaking to them tomorrow.

Superstorm Sandy and navigating this year????

Re: Superstore Sandy and navigating this year???? This is going to be the first year that I'm going to take my time getting the boat in the water. I need new props, but I think I'm going to wait till the boats been in the water a few months before I swap them out...although if I keep hitting...

Superstorm Sandy and navigating this year????

Re: Superstore Sandy and navigating this year???? I went down to my slip earlier in the day and happened to catch it on a very low tide. When I looked into the water I saw the legs of a 5'-6' bench sitting in the back of my slip...who knows what else is in there. Maybe the marina said they...

    Replacing Seacocks

Thanks for the follow-up...sounds like the job is less involved than I had originally thought.

Superstorm Sandy and navigating this year????

Re: Superstore Sandy and navigating this year???? I plan on going in a little later than I have in years passed and taking it slow for a little while. The place I am most concerned about is my slip...I have heard that the marina had divers in the water ensuring that the slips are clear, but...

    Replacing Seacocks

I know this is an old thread but I am contemplating replacing the original A/C seacock this year and I have a question. Did you have to do any work outside of the boat? I was under the impression that I would need to use a special tool outside of the boat to unscrew the thru-hull from the...

    O-Ring Replacement

Hey guys, I have a set of Bennett Trim tabs on my SeaRay and the starboard side started leaking last season. When I pulled the boat for the season I found oil on the lower piston of the starboard cylinder. I know the o-rings can be replaced, but considering the age, should I just replace the...

    Sanitation Hose Routing

I had a feeling that pipe might be related to the A/C system...it's always bothered me that the condensation accumulates in the bilge under the aft berth. As you know, the bilge pump never gets all the water out and as a result there's always standing water inside the boat. Looking at your...

    Sanitation Hose Routing

I actually live over in Lindenhurst. :) I don't have a genny either and I do have a macerator....based on other things that were done on my boat (as well as the interference issues I was having), I'm guessing a PO changed the routing on mine. I will certainly take you up on the offer to...

    Standup Paddle Boards

I've been interested in getting a SUP board since I first tried one early last year. At first I was going to get a hard board, but I couldn't come up with a good way to store or transport it on the boat. Plus I started hearing great things about the inflatables, so within the next few months I...

    Sanitation Hose Routing

Thanks for the help guys...maybe that is how they are supposed to be but just in case, I would certainly appreciate a picture JVM225. As for the vent filter...I just learned about them a few months ago, and I will certainly be installing one once the shrink wrap comes off this spring.

    Sanitation Hose Routing

Dennis, The hoses are pulled pretty tight right now and are barely clearing the front of the engine. I'm worried that when I install new hoses, I won't be able to get them pulled back far enough. I've never seen the ER of a similar boat, but the routing just doesn't look like it's correct. I...

    Sanitation Hose Routing

I was thinking about turning the tank, but I don't know if I have the room. It doesn't look like the hoses should be routed the way they are, and replacing the hoses is a job I don't want to re-do. :) -Brian

    Sanitation Hose Routing

Hey guys! Just about time to start getting the boat ready for spring. One of the items on my to-do list is to replace the sanitation hoses on the boat, but I don't think the current hoses are routed properly. Here's a picture looking forward over the port engine. It might not be that clear...
