Hi there!
Would like to share a good story ...
Bought a cover for my Sea Ray 180 sport from Great Lakes Boat Top in Vonore TN
http://www.greatlakesboattop.com
around March last year.
Got busy building a new deck at my river house and forgot about the cover until December. When I pulled the...
I look at the spray from under the chine. In my little boat it should be behind the front chair and that "should" must probably be qualified with a depending on condition.
In your boat, I have no idea, but you can probably use a similar method identifying the position of the water spray. If you...
Yes I got that. That was my main concern. Don't want to reduce the life of the universal joint.
I ordered the 60 yet they sent me the 40. Probably had to change many Sea Ray struts from 60 to 40. I doubt there would be any difference between your boat and mine.
If you check my comments on the...
Thank you guys, I will be experimenting more also with different props. I realize that trim tabs on a bigger boat are used in a different way. Mine are fully automatic, no action required.
Smart Tabs tested OK. Strut in the middle position. Prop is Stiletto 23, a bit large for my 2:1 alpha drive use to lift the bow badly and took forever to get on the plane. Now the bow and stern raise almost at the same time. Driving at low speed almost eliminated the wandering that was so...
You are right Dennis, they are Smart Tabs, and they work a treat.
My question basically is if it is safe to drive with the trim past the first quarter on the gage. Yes, my switch works and has a limit, I just feel uneasy about the universal joint, that is all. The switch allows for raising the...
I have just installed trim tabs and when they have improved the way the boat behaves dramatically, my wife says 50% less bumps, I find that I need to trim the drive up much more to keep the bow high in the chop.
Wich brings me to my question ... how much can one trim up safely?
The shaft from...
I just finished installing the smart tabs on my 2005 180 Sport with 135HP
I bought the ST1290-60, however they sent me the ST1290-40 suggesting the 60 was too strong.
I also bought the PR500 retractor bracket.
I understand the SX don't fit properly the curved transom, or rather you can...
Thank you all for your input.
I have sent a request for a quote to Great Lakes as well.
I had a look at e-bay but the choice of colors isn't there and the price is close.
I need to purchase a bow and cockpit clip-on cover for my 2005 Sea Ray 180.
SeaRayCanvas seems to be the choice for close to original covers using Sunbrella fabric.
However when I want to go on their website my anti virus software (McAfee) warns me not to go there since it is a 'dangerous site'...
Thank you all for your replies.
I try to find a plastic tank ready made. That would be my first choice. I know of an aluminium tank fabricator but I read some poor reviews from a marine surveyor about aluminium tank failure and so perhaps that is not the best way to go. So plastic first then...
I am interested to hear from people who have fitted a larger aftermarket fuel tank to their boat.
Our boat lives on a river with almost no fuel supply. I keep a 200 L drum at the house but the boat only takes 79 (usable probably 70 ) liters and we can not go all day without refueling. I don't...
I can't find an Attwood supplier in Australia, the closest I found is "Ocean seats" sold by a few resellers like BLA, chsmith marine and BIAS boating. Best price on line was bias boating at 340 the others are 380 and there is a bigger model on the BLA website (good luck finding it their website...
Attwood boat seats
I don't know if they are "the best" but for the options we have in OZ, you have 3 choices there at a reasonable price.
I hardly ever buy anything relating to boats in Australia because we get systematically ripped off but with seats, I must say you will be paying the same in...
Hi Gidders. I have my 180 on a skid trailer. All I need is for the skid to touch the water in order to pull the boat up with the strap.
How far need the trailer go in the water is related to the angle of the ramp and not the type of trailer.
I have the boat in my backyard and my ramp is fairly...

I did not like the slack in my steering so replaced the rack and pinion helm and cable for a teleflex hydraulic kit. Slack is less but still there. What is left is to get rid of the power steering.
Has anyone done this?
Oh...I also have now a fresh water cooling kit from Seakamp.
This is an older thread but since I was looking for ideas on this issue, here it goes.
You can have cable steering helm, cable helm with power assisted steering, hydraulic helm on a power assisted and only hydraulic.
I changed my rack and pinion cable helm to a Teleflex Hydraulic helm only to...
