Thanks man. I was planning on removing the platform to juice the mileage up a little...guess I should be spending more time on the swim platform when under way.
Interesting thought JY. It's obvious how much higher your platform sits in your photo at plane. Has to be a hull design deal. We're equipped identical. We should compare fuel consumption some time under similar conditions if possible. I would like to learn more. (Gas ain't particularily...
Actually, it's hard to tell with Jason's blue hull. By very obvious with my white hull and black bottom paint. About 2" of bottom paint shows from bow to stern.
No doubt Jason. I sit in the water exactly as yours in your photo 100% of the time. If you notice, Henry, the boat is not stern heavy. It's posture is even with hull trim from bow to stern. I don't want to cause brain cramps over this, but the only reason I even posted the question was to...
Jason, w/ full fuel and 9.5 dink mounted of platform w/ standoffs, I sit in the water exactly at bottom paint line as I do w/ empty tank and no dink. Load doesn't appear to affect posture either way. I'm feelin pretty good about it.

Thanks Jim. I have read many of the previous posts re consumption, but couldn't find any equipped like me. I've had two 2+ hour cruises since taking delivery. Love the boat. Still trying to find the sweet spot w/ combo of trim/rpm. Hope to get her out over New Year's and experiment some...
Hey guys,
I had been reading your posts on how low your 280's are sitting in the water and wondered if you ever came to a satisfactory explanation for your posture in the water? I have a 2004 w/ twin 5.0's and genset and also sit low. I was told by dealer that is typical. Curious.
I think I understand. I'm NOT actually going to "flush" the head, I'm allowing the gallon or two of anti-freeze solution to "gravity" flow into the holding tank just by pouring it into the bowl?
Thanks King. I'm not concerned about the freezing yet, since we have not had hard freeze. So my plan would be to add a gallon of water mixed with antifreeze, dump into toilet bowl and flush. Then I can pump out black tank. What you're telling me is that when I flush, vacu system will want to...
Hi Chad,
Can't seem to get enough of this crap. Got a question for the "King".
Just took delivery of my 280DA. Equipped w/ vacu and macerator. She'll be in the water all winter. Before taking delivery, she was winterized (FW tank water emptied and pinked). We don't plan to use FW system...
Hey guys,
After getting 4 insurance quotes for my 280DA, I'm ending up w/ State Farm who happens to carry my homes and cars. Quote was 60% of BoatUS, Charter and NBOA for same coverage. Guess I'll find out if I did the right thing the first time I need to make a claim (?). Thanks for the...
Hi all,
I just left my first thread on the "who's who" forum introducing myself as another newbie, having just purchased a used 280DA; but then I thought I should appeal to a broader audience with a couple of questions.
Anyone have a recommendation for a solid insurance vendor? Or is BoatUS...
:smt101 Hey Guys,
I have enjoyed reading through the various threads for the last six months in preparation to purchasing my FIRST boat.
Truly amazing reading!
Just closed an the purchase of a '04 280DA w/ Twin 5.0 Mec w/ Bravo III. 252 hrs and 68 hrs on the 5k Kohler Gen. It has full camper...
