@dtfeld you must have cleaned amazon out of those 6405-04-04-o-ss male to female converters...none left.
I think I have come up with a work around.

not yet...but CAT SIS is pretty accurate@dtfeld did you confirm the thread size matched the J-Pipe?
NPT is NPT. NPTF is simply just NPT "Female". NPT is the designation for a particular tapered thread. National Pipe Taper... often just referred to as "pipe".What about this...not NPTF. Will NPT cut it? rated between 100psi (350F) and 500psi (72F).

NPTF is different than NTP; the F is not a designation for Female - a higher tolerance thread for critical functions. Same pitch and taper but the thread formation is different.NPT is NPT. From my aerospace shot glass.Interesting - learn something new everyday!
David, did you use "NPTF" in your original thread with the idea that "F" was for Female to mate to the oil drain valve? That's how I read it, anyways.
But... end result would be that regular 'ol NPT is more than up the challenge in this situation? Thanks for the new info for my brain, TT!
My shot glass only has whisky in it...From my aerospace shot glass.
NPT need pipe tape or dope to complete the seal as the crests and the roots of the threads do not mate creating a small “tunnel” which allows a leak. Only the flanks of the threads compress together because the crests are truncated. The tape or dope fills that gap.NPTF is different than NTP; the F is not a designation for Female - a higher tolerance thread for critical functions. I havent even looked at this project yet, but I'm betting mine is the same.It was going so well, and then I realised (again) that port and starboard are not a mirror image of one another!

Ordered a 90 degree elbow...
How did you go with your Port side?
Did the J-pipe overlap the engine mount stringer like mine or were you clear?
Mine was clear. I have enough room to get a 2 or 3 qt pan underneath both sides. How did you go with your Port side?
