Facebook- well I did it.

I used to be on FB but got banned for having the capacity for rational independent thought. I know, the audacity of it all. If people knew just how much data these apps and websites collected on them and shared with third parties they never actually use them. They are financially “free” to users because of the gold mine of data of personal information they generate for the owners of the website to sell to whoever wants to pay.

Here is my screwed up neighborhood …..guy complains……some woke lady with a B complains he’s too aggresive …..then my response…..my wife called me right away and said stay the F off Facebook… Too funny

I'm holding out (best I can) till retirement as well for the reasons you stated above.
My 'filter' is inoperable quite often....
 
I couldn’t care less about fb. Wife is on it, keeps up with the travels of people we have met in our boat and rv travels, sells some art there, etc, great, but all the other garbage on there is just that imo and there just doesn’t seem to be a need for me.

Ha, this is me on NextDoor. I get beat up regularly and have to take breaks. GF pleads with me to not comment. Unfortunately I live in a very liberal neighborhood...

It did work recently. I posted about a theft I witnessed to warn folks to lock their car doors. A neighbor replied stating she found the tossed tool bag in her alley and we were able to get it back to the contractor.

I shit you not. Some friends are renting an apartment while their house is being being built and they have two dogs. Both dogs were required to have dna tests at an approved vet. Seems that the apartment management will test dog crap that isn't picked up, trace it back and fine the owner. Or if a dna'd dog bites someone they can prove who it belongs to. Craziness I tell ya. Now back to working on the boat...

I have really pissed off Democrat neighbors on facebook numerous times…. I have received threats…. So my wife has banned me from saying anything on the neighborhood page….. but sometimes I just can’t help myself :)
 
I'm mostly on Facebook because of the groups that are there that are pretty helpful. Unfortunately a lot of those used to be forums that I followed and didn't have to get buried in the minutiae of Facebook.

I was on nextdoor for a short period of time until I realized it was just a never-ending bitch session. Funniest thing I ever saw in there was this.

I hear you. I have really pissed democrat friends, one that fervently backs BLM and his wife who is a teacher. My wife is on me constantly not to bait them, especially on FB. It used to be hard until one day in 2020 I posted about thinking twice before having your young child vaxed due to possible severe side effects after I read an article on the CDC website. The husband immediately replies "What nutty right wing unhinged pod cast did you get that crap from?" Complete with a laughing emoji. I took the high road and simply replied "The CDC website". He didn't reply and has never replied to one of my posts since. Our mutual friends who saw the exchange mercilessly gave him sh!t for months. I did not say a thing. There's a moral in there somewhere.
