Should you buy a gun or not?

Bought a Smith Wesson M&P 15 centerfire rifle today. Only thing I can figure is that this thread and Kenosha has upped my thirst for more guns going in the safe. Oop's failed to mention that I also purchased a PSA PA15 CHF.
Going tomorrow to find my wife a 380 for carry, she works at the court house. On top of her first gun i am going to have her professionally trained and hopefully obtain a CCW
here in KY. Oh, I do not have a CCW.
We are in our mid 60's and love to boat. However its cold here so now we have a new winter distraction, indoor shooting range. Hopefully she enjoys it. I think she will.

DING DING DING!!!
We have a winner!!!!

I understand that it really is a global ecomony, but still try to buy American as much as possible, and don't worry too much as long as it is at least built/assembled here, which gets to be a joke as my F250 Super Duty was friggin assembled in Mexico for crying out loud!!!

PS: that EXACT thought is why I giggle like a school-girl every time a F'n toyota hits the wall during NASCAR races:D:p:D:p
My F-250 was assembled in Kentucky. One of many reasons I bought it. The wiring harnesses on my SeaRay on the other hand say assembled in MX.

Congrats @RBB, great choice! My wife started with a 380 but moved up to a 9 so we could get rid of one caliber to stock. It is a great winter hobby. Pickup a laser trainer and practice at home.

I will look at 9's also since truly its going to be mostly a desk gun. Unless she was to use it on me, ;).

I have seen a lot of CSR members showing off some hot European wheels over the years. And most of them are not made in the US. I guess there are two sides to every mouth - sometimes more.
Aren't we just the sphincter muscle tonight? Yes. I have bought several European cars. German to be precise. What's your point? Two sides to every mouth? I never claimed to not have bought non-American made products and I sure don't need to explain my reasoning to some Canadian.

One thing I have not seen mentioned in all of this is how the gun fits in your hand, how the backstrap lies against the meat of your hand and the web between your thumb and the pad of your palm.

The wrong fit, even by a tiny amount, can make a difference in how well you shoot. Glocks fit me real well. Sigs, not so much, HK not at all.
OK, a barely related story. My brother in law and his family grew up on a "semi-rural" farm near Toronto. His father is and ex military pilot that flew for Air Canada after service. Guns were part of their lives on the farm. This was before handguns were so severely restricted in Canada.

Here is where stupidity and consequences come to play. So on New Years eve they decide to go outside and shoot the 9mm at the barn from the deck on the house because they didn't have proper fireworks. After watching a few rounds, the mom decides she wants to try. Hold my wine glass, she says. They all warn her to use two hands because it will kick. So she does. Placing that fleshy part between thumb and index finder on her left hand RIGHT OVER THE SLIDE. Peeled it wide open cracked a bone. I guess the emergency doctors didn't think it was as funny a story.

Chill my friend. No offense. You are too testy tonight. I wasn't talking about you specifically.

No worries. As far as Sig being German, I wasn't up on their business history. I just knew they were built with American hands in NH. Used to be Virginia and Arkansas before that I guess. CMO claimed them to be an American company. I don't like that. Just like Makers Mark. Now an offshore brand... Well, not just like because they sold out. Don't claim to be American if you're profit checks get deposited elsewhere. I don't need to hear everyone's New World Order/One World BS speeches either. I'm aware of how businesses work.
Makers Mark is an offshore brand? I had no idea.
Well, I see that it was bought by a Japanese company. I'll be damned. Still made in America I guess.

I went to Scotland a bunch of times and one time was sitting in bar at a hotel trying as many as I could. The barkeep offered me a Japanese whisky to try. He said that they had do stock it for the Japanese tourists that want to compare it to a proper scotch in the home land turf.

I said, "Before I try it, there's no body fluids you added to it, right?". He laughed and gave us a complimentary small distillery single malt to get the taste of the Japanese one out of our mouth.

All my friends in Scotland prefer Jack Daniels.

At least when post I'm honest. When I call someone out I don't try to hide it. Like ErikE and his ignorant comments about faux or theater patriotism. He casts those towards someone he knows nothing about and is mistaken to the extreme. He thinks he knows me because I make the choice to buy American firearms.

My wife carries a sig P238 in .380 and loves it. What ever you do stay away from the SW bodyguard. I bought that for her first, and it has a terrible long trigger pull, I hate that gun. I still have it if anyone is interested.

I gave my wife a Shield in 9mm. Perfect for her. She's 100 lbs soaking wet with weak wrists. I smoothed out the trigger with some polishing etc. Alot of the less expensive civilian weapons I've found to have less than desirable trigger assemblies. Easily remedied at least with either off the shelf parts or some smithing if you know how.

Wow...triggered much? Sheesh...go clean off your binky and quit crying.

I made a statement for why I buy what I buy. I chose quality over where it is from.

Not everything is about you. Good grief get some counseling or go cry on your partners shoulder for a while.

You must be a secondary (troll) CapTard account.

BTW: Just cause it’s made in USA, doesn’t automatically mean it’s quality made.

You apparently are late to the party...as you just made my point. I am willing to buy from outside the USA if it is quality.

Keep up, Jr.

For a rundown on Chicago, take a peek at www.heyjackass.com (my apologies if someone already linked to it - can't recall if it was in this thread or not)...
