Accidently left my battery switch on my 2008 Searay Amberjack 29. Have three batteries....1-port, 1-starboard, 1-house,,,,,,the starboard engine did not want to start, had to charge that specific battery. The three batteries are linked and jump from one to the other. My question is shouldn't the other two batteries assist to start that engine? They are all connected right? I have two switches 1- Port, 1-starboard. Found it strange that the other 2 batteries did not assist in starting the starboard engine.

If your boat has a momentary switch that says "emergency start", you have the ability to temporarily operate the batteries in parallel to connect them for starting when one is depleted. Batteries should normally be isolated from one another so a bad battery does not run all the others, as would happen if they are all connected together.

The big question would be even with the battery switch in the "ON" position what on your boat would have drained the battery? Was it over a few months of storage or was something left on?

I also have 3 batteries.

#1 & #2 tied together for house, generator and port engine.
#3 stand alone for starboard engine.

I've only had to use the emergency switch twice to start my port engine from the starboard battery.

That is the question. What drained the battery? Unless a light was left on or a bilge pump switch is bad a battery should not drain just because the battery switch is left on. Heck I leave both my battery switches on all winter and my batteries don't drain. BTW Lucky Ducky maybe you should think about getting the generator off the house circuit and onto the starboard battery circuit. That way if you run your house batteries down the generator will still start off of the starboard battery and power up the battery charger.

Thanks for your replies. There is an emergency start switch next to the Port and starboard start buttons. Did not use them this time but good to know I have it. In regards to the drain, I could only assume lights were on or something was left running. Will restart the boat this week and also check the batteries with a volt tester. Thank you all

Can anyone help me? I have a 201819’ SeaRay and am having problems with USB and Cigarette lighter where are fuses also stereo shows my Bluetooth but I get no sound
