I'm considering replacing the trim tabs on my 2005 290 AJ. I can feel almost no effect with the current ones. Does anyone know someone that have replaced the factory ones or have thoughts about doing this?

Have you heard of anyone changing out the trim tabs for ones much larger. I can barley feel the difference with them down. On my Donzi I could really lower the bow w/ them down. I feel that larger trim tabs would probably make the ride in bigger seas much better. Looking forward to taking it...

I have a pair of Mercruiser 5.0 MPI (260 hp). Is this the newer version of the 5.7 efi (260 hp)? The boat sat for some time with a full tank and I'm sure the gas may have lost some of its octane. I'll put in 93 octane when I fill up and hopefully will start to see numbers close to these...

papertrail290AJ How does the boat handle in 3 to 4's. Also what type and pitch props do you have. I can't seem to get the performance I know I should be getting. I found an articel with these performance specs on the 290 AJ.

That's funny ... I never noticed the chopped off boot stripe. Gald you pointed that out. Now it's going to eat at me until it's fixed. I've never been a big fan of boot stripes and I planned on removing it all together. You just sped up the process.
