    Ok , 1988 s23, 5.7. Is settingthe timing as simple as hooking up my timing light to #1 ignition wire and setting the base timing to 8 degrees? I checked it shortly after I bought the boat and it was set like at 12 or so BTDC.... please advise on proper method to adjust timing.. Thanks Tony

    yesh, it will work out, just gotta find a new carb or an old one with the same base so I can swap them out and have it rebuilt. carbs seem to be going for about 270 dollars, not too bad but not great ya know..

    yeah bad news, one of the adjustment screws wa seized and broke off,,, then my easy out broke off after drilling it and trying to remove the broken piece, so the carb is shot now, or i need a new base to it... SO now I am in the market for a direct replacement,,, anyone know whereI should look...

    Screen is very clean, I will try adjusting those screws like you said and then see what happens.. I will report back... the screws are tight, so I gotta run and get the actual tool to turn them...
