    charging system question

my 89 160 with a merc 100 hp outboard seems to have a charging system with only a rectifier and no voltage regulator as in the picture. Was this a common configuration in 89? My mecury manual only seems to show the setup with a rectifier and voltage regulator... Or maybe the VR is in a hidden...

HELP fuel not flowing from gas tank!

Thanks everyone! Got the issue solved. The black elbow did unscrew but was stuck and required force that was almost at the limit of the plastic. The dip tube had in fact fallen off the other end and into the fuel tank. I'll be making a trip to the boat shop today for some parts so I can get...

HELP fuel not flowing from gas tank!

Thanks for the reply! When I blow air into this plastic fitting with my mouth I don't hear any bubbling in the fuel tank, also I can freely blow air in with no restriction. It seems that the dip tube may have decided to break off or disconnect right when I was about to go boating... Better it...

HELP fuel not flowing from gas tank!

Just to update: I've pulled the fill hose off the tank and can get a hose into the tank and actually pump fuel out into a can using the pump bulb that's for the fuel system. Seems like this dang black plastic elbow is the culprit, just wish I knew how to get it off. Seems like it'll break...

HELP fuel not flowing from gas tank!

The beep that runs when the key is in the on position stays on when enging is running and Im not getting any charging out of the charging system... This could be why this is happening? At any rate no charging is going to the battery. When engine running I'm getting 12.4V on battery with out...

beep continues after engine is running

Could this be an alternator alarm? I noticed that when I start the engine the voltage meter doesn't realy move in the positive direction. When starter is cranking the voltage will drop to as low as 8V and when it's running im at 12V and if i trun the lights on it drops to about 11V. Guess...

beep continues after engine is running

Thanks for pointing that out... It is a 2 cycle and I'll have to check the wires. I think the engine mounted tank has oil in it, but I'll have to double check.

beep continues after engine is running

I was wondering if it could be oil pressure, but I have no guage on my boat. Is there another way to check oil pressure?
