Hello everyone.
I will be starting numerous repairs on my swim platform. There are two major cracks that need to be addressed before I can do anything else. I have some experience working with carbon fiber but this looks like a tricky one.
Attached in the images are the cracks from the front...
Well, this is what I get for not knocking on wood... Replaced both IACs and felt like a million bucks when I took the boat out with no alarms. Took the boat out today and the first 20 mins went well. Then while in a minimum wake, BEEP BEEP. Decided to turn around and head back. Was really hoping...
Thanks! I'll take a closer look at it and see if I can find any cracks.
Ok I'll open up the blue knob near the thermostat and see what comes out. If it still leaks, I'll look into replacing the housing. Thanks
Hello,
I am trying to chase an elusive water leak issue on my 280 Sundancer and found a possible culprit. On my 4.3L Mercruiser, I have a single point drain system. The orange hose that comes out the bottom is located right above the transducer, which at first led me to believe that the...
Success! Had a 2 beeps/minute alarm, and replaced both engines' IAC valves. I used Sierra valves to keep things "marine grade". Only difference I see between those and the automotive IAC valves (which were replaced on my boat) is just a metal cylinder with a spring over it. Got rid of the beeps...
Bilge pump install was a success. If anyone here plans to upgrade to the Rule 27DA pumps (stock pumps are Rule 27D), then you're probably going to have to move the primary pump towards port in order to get the hose to fit on the included nozzle which extends about 2 in beyond the original pump...
Thank you to everyone for your great help!
The job has been completed and I verified by someone outside the boat that the flow rate is very good on both pumps. Here is what I ended up doing.
The secondary pump was able to be mounted using the original holes. The elongated nozzle was no problem...
Almost ready to put my 280 back in the water. Going through a series of important repairs after getting a little more water in the bilge than I was comfortable with after returning on the last trip.
Firstly, I would like to change the hose going from the AC seacock to the strainer as one of...
Appears that it will fit fine as the diameter of the built in neck is between the small and large nozzles included. Here you can see the size difference that’s causing the issues.
Perfect timing! I was just about to buy a shop vac but that sounds like a much better solution. Thanks.
Wow that's much cheaper than I expected. Did they have to loosen or remove the helm? Wish I was close by as I would definitely let them have a look at mine.
Hmm this makes me question whether just unscrewing the back flow valve all together would be okay. It looks like a pretty slick setup with pre-greased threads and an o-ring so the attached neck containing the valve seals properly. The thought of clamping down the bilge pump hose to a threaded...
Decided I would update this thread. I was working on the boat today and looked at both lube bottles. Turns out neither of the sensor wires on both bottles were attached to begin with. Could this be causing the alarm?
Meanwhile, coming in to dock, both engines are having issues with stalling out...
After a long day and sore legs, I got one pump (the secondary pump) in and working. I tried to do the primary pump (front) first but ran into issues as the new pumps have back flow prevention valves that extend the necks by a good inch or so. Not going to work with the current position of the...
