Replaced alternator. Same reading. Suspect voltmeter problem

What is a normal volt reading. After replacing the battery, I found the 2 wire plug was disconnected at the alternator. I connected it and now the volt meter reads 14 at idle and 15 1/2 volts at 2000 rpm. Is 15 1/2 a problem?

I have a 2000 210 Sundeck with a 240hp engine. When idling amp gauge read 14. Once I increase RPM the gauges pegs at 16. Any thoughts as to why?
