    Windlass advice?

I have a 87 SR cuddy cabin and I removed my anchor locker and installed a Lemar Pro Fish windless vertical. I mounted my battery back at the stern near my engine on the opposite side of my other battery. On my SR I had a pvc that ran down the center of the boat just under the floor 23 ft...

    Oil or Polyurethane on Teak

I would not use teak oil as I have an 87 SR and sanded all my teak down took it all off and oiled it, (3coats) and after 3 weeks it was starting to fade and did not have that clean look that I was looking for. So I pulled the teak off again re-sanded it and used Sikkens product. I used...

    Starting my teak work tomorrow

I have spent a great deal of time with teak as I just finished re-sanding and replacing teak on my 1987 SR Cuddy Cabin. Make sure before you start sanding etc. that you get the old teak oil out of the wood first. I used a teak oil cleaner and scrubbed with a soft wire brush while rinsing with...

1987 SR 230 Cubby Cabin Restoration and Pulpit

I used a teak oil cleaner with a soft wire brush and kept rinsing the teak, and then after it dried I used 180 to 220 sand paper to get it as smooth as glass. I applied 3 coats of Cetol (product of Sikkens) natural color and 3 to 4 coats of high gloss for the finish. I would not advise you to...

1987 SR 230 Cubby Cabin Restoration and Pulpit

Al I built the pulpit myself I used 1 1/4 teak as it is the same thickness as my deck around the anchor locker. It is 4' long and 18.5 wide (with of the anchor locker). I built an aluminum 1/2 angle frame around the anchor locker to strengthen the windless. I used the FS 2 roller housing from...

1987 SR 230 Cubby Cabin Restoration and Pulpit

What I did was wipe the old teak with a good teak oil remover soaked the teak with a rag let is sit for a min.and used a soft wire brush and and scrubbed it while rinsing it with water as you can see the oil coming out of the wood. You just have to keep applying the remover until the rinse...

Thinking about replacing teak bow strips with stainless/aluminum

I own a 87 SR cuddy cabin and I just restored my teak and replaced some teak through out my boat (23ft) and it looks real sharp. Personally I would not put any stainless on your rails as it takes away the classic look. I also just installed my pulpit out of teak so the rails on the bow flow...
