I'm sure I couldn't lift it easily but if I could free the pin, at least there is a chance of rigging up a pulley to lift the hatch...better to use brains than braun. At any rate, I appreciate the help. I'll repost when (if?) I get it open!

I have a 2006 and I like the helm seat alright - its pretty comfortable - two can fit but is a little awkward for two all the time. I really like the companionway off to the side instead of in the middle. Not happy about my engine hatch not opening though (have my own thread on that!).

Its a 2006 - I checked it out today and there is a round metal plate in the center of the hatch - in front of the rear seat - for a table to fit into (which is stored on the underside of the hatch), and there is also a round plastic cover underneath the rear seat that unscrews, and lifts off to...

Will check that out first thing in the morning - I'm not sure where the inspection plate is but should be able to find it! Couldn't remember if there was one piston or two. Thanks for your help.

I have a 290 Sundancer that has hydraulics to open the hatch - quit once before and they replaced the switch. They told me (when I bought it) that it could be opened manually. New service guys say it has to be hauled out - not sure how that will help open it ---anybody know anything about...
