My Nautical Structures swim platform control panel blows it's 7 amp fuse each time I raise or lower the swim platform. I've gone thru a few fuses getting it back in to proper position. So, I assume I have a short and grabbed my multi-meter and jumped in the engine room... ;-) Of course the NSI...

The mechanic thinks it's the rattle/chatter thing that people on this site eluded to . But wouldn't give 100% commit without taking the v-drive out and inspecting. I'm gonna shake the dice and drive her home.

pcarp and LG111, How many years have you experienced this noise? I was surprised by the noise and thought the worst was about to happen. Having a mechanic looking at it today. Will let you know how that goes. Thanks,

No fluid analysis. I did a search on v-drive "rattle" instead of chatter and found a few hits. My concern is this rattle is the beginning of a v-drive failure. In neutral and rev'd past 1400 rpm it starts to fade. In gear, reverse or forward, it fades a bit quicker around 1100 rpm.

Pre trial - the engines were run for some time at idle speed at the slip and the test took about two hours.

Okay - I checked with Sea Ray customer support today and the lift is a Nautilus Structures lift and rated for 800 lbs. Then I checked Nautilus Structures website and they recommend 600 lbs. I guess I will be shopping for an aluminum RIB. Thanks for the replys!!
