Thanks lawndoctor,
Sounds like I can still use this boat to go skiing and tubing. I live close to the Carolina Beach area here in North Cackalacky and might take the boat out on calm days to see the coast. This of course will be once the boat is 100% ship shape and tried and reliable. I wasn't...
Hello to All,
I am still working to finish my 1970 Sea Ray SRV 190 with mercruiser 165.
I was curious as to anyone that might know what kind of performance this combo will put forth when running properly.
Top speed and handling, I know I have a very old and rare to still be running boat here and...
Thanks for the response, I will recheck the wiring. Seems like it's going to be at the remote switch at the helm as I have checked all the wiring to the pump and solenoids.
Thanks again, Mike
Help,
I posted a week ago in the regular Sea Ray Forum about my problem, So far, no responses. I will try here since I am working on my Classic Sea Ray SRV 190 W/Mercrusier 165 With Pre Alpha O/D.
The trim motor runs fine It will raise the O/D no matter which buttons you push and it will not...
Hello,
My pre-alpha outdrive will go up fine. Trim motor runs fine, battery has 12.80 volts, have checked fluid level it's about half full with the drive all the way up. I have checked wiring, all looks good. Note purple/white and blue wires are connected as interlock switch is bypassed...
Hello Again,
I used a spare drive shaft end that I got from the guy I bought the Mercrusier engine from. I adjusted the rear and front engine mount till the shaft seemed equally centered in the gimble bearing and then installed the outdrive. I used a lot of grease on the input shaft on the...
Hello 270win,
I don't have a good video camera. I only have a small camera with built in sound thats not very good.
I am thinking of taking the boat to my local Marine Mistro here in town and see what he thinks. He has many decades of experience and I agree after 30 plus years as a Automotive...
Hello To All,
I have recently replaced the engine in my 1970 Sea Ray SRV 190 with Mercrusier 165 inline 6 With pre Alpha outdirve. Since I have never ran the boat [project boat had blown engine], I am not familar with normal or abnormal noises. The engine runs fine has 20 PSI oil pressure at...
Hello,
I have a 1970 Sea Ray SRV 190 with the Mercrusier 165 inline cylinder thats all stock. The problem is number #6 cylinder is taking on water. Removed all sparkplugs today and turned over the engine, There was a geyser of water from the rear cylinder #6. Now, I had just hooked up the water...

Thanks for responding. I did check with the person I bought the engine from and yes it had been used in salt water. Is it possible the manifold is corroded or rusted thru, allowing water to be sucked into the intake ports, I installed the newer engine with the manifold that came on...
Just replaced impeller and all seals in outdrive. had engine running in large container of water. started and ran fine first time, shut down after 2 to 3 minutes. checked for leaks found none. Restarted engine, sounded like it was hydra-locked, shut down checked, pulled plugs had water in...
Hello Again, The stub shaft is from another Alpha outdrive which is the same as the one on my outdrive. It is the splined shaft that couples to the C/V joints and goes into the engine coupler.
Thanks, Mike
I did use a extra front stub shaft and checked for equal clearence at 12,3,6,9 oclock seemed to be within a 1/8 inch on all sides. Didn"t see the point in spending the hundred bucks on the tool. I inserted the stub shaft with the ujoint opening in the 12/6 and the 9/3 position to check for...
Thanks, annie
I have thrown a few t-kicks at the upper gear housing with little or no effect. I my take the unit back out again and see if the driveshafts may be kinked and not alowing the drive to go all the way in.
Anyone else have any ideas!!!!!
