    Official 19SPX/21SPX/SPX190/SPX210 Thread

My center cushion flew out - $600 or so (trailered it numerous times with no issue, but then it happened.) Now I put all the cushions in the car while trailering.

    SPX 190 vs SPX 210

When SR lists the max people capacity, that's with a butt in every chair (think coach/steerage/economy minus flying/back seat of a sports car). Knock a third off of the number to get what is reasonably comfortable for a couple of hours on the lake. Probably divide by two if you're adding kids...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 shakes when lowered

Engine/sterndrive is not covered by SR. Shorter Mercury Marine warranty.

Alpha 1 Gen 2 shakes when lowered

My mistake: fluid level seems constant, no obvious leakage. Just fixed that typo. As for the warranty, I'm still investigating, but SR warranty says "This warranty also does not apply to the following items: 1.Engines, stern drives, controls,... which are not installed by SR or which carry...

Alpha 1 Gen 2 shakes when lowered

Fluid level seems constant, and no obvious leakage. "This wasn't covered under your 5 year warranty?" The Big Sea Ray Bull.... Engine etc 2 year warranty.

Alpha 1 Gen 2 shakes when lowered

2016 21SPX w/4.5L. On trailer, raising and lowering trim via trim switch. Outdrive goes up OK, but when lowering it shakes or 'stutters' intermittently. It will start lowering just fine, and then make a quick little jump and then continue down, sometimes once or twice per cycle). This...

    Radio

Great boat! IIRC, key in ignition and turned at least one click clockwise, and then turn left radio knob. I can't remember if the radio had an equalizer function, but if you're getting anything other than a blank display on the radio, maybe the EQ functions are turned all the way down?

    Mercury Active Trim

Too much time on the internet.... Looking at adding Active Trim to 21SPX. Any comments from current users of the Mercury Active Trim system? Thanks!

Adding Smart Tow / "Cruise Control" to Mercruiser 4.5L?

My mistake - ECT is emissions control technology. Adaptive speed control is what they call the constant RPM feature. Just stumbled across another possible new gadget - the 'active trim system'. Too much free time with the isolation policy....

Adding Smart Tow / "Cruise Control" to Mercruiser 4.5L?

I'm sorry - I'd be lying if I said I remembered! It was 3 years ago now. The instruction manual looks unchanged. I have ECT, but not DTS. I 'think' DTS means a system of all electric wires, no mechanical cables, whereas ECT is within the engine electronics that just keeps the RPMs steady in...

Adding Smart Tow / "Cruise Control" to Mercruiser 4.5L?

Great video! I don’t recall exactly how mine went together (nowhere near the boat or I would send a picture.) Perfect Pass has the install manual on their website - pg 4-5 of the Stargazer installation manual has Mercruiser specific - maybe an idea there? I definitely did not cut into the...

Adding Smart Tow / "Cruise Control" to Mercruiser 4.5L?

I have a 2016 21SPX with the 4.5L (ECT 4.5LMPI A1, according to the bill of sale). There is still a cable that runs from the throttle lever to the engine (It's not DTS or 'fly by wire'). AFAIK, the 'electronic throttle' just keeps a constant RPM as called for the position of that cable. PP...

    Latest on replacement cushions?

I have the vinyl but the underlying structure is destroyed. Seen posts of $800 cushions, so trying to find better option before going to dealer....

    Latest on replacement cushions?

Bench seat cushion on 21SPX took flight today. Was recaptured, but not before breaking into many pieces, so we're talking whole new cushion, not just vinyl replacement. Forum search resulted in mostly older threads. Any great ideas on how to order replacements at a less than bank-breaking...

    Which flavor '303'?

Thanks! Figures it the most expensive - it's for things that fly and float!
