2 things make me believe it the prop is pitched so if you are looking at it from the rear it would have to rotate clockwise to go forward thus meaning the flywheel turns clockwise from looking at from the rear. That means looking from the front of the engine it would have to rotate counter clock...
Yes I know that's what I am saying. What I want to do is make it run backwards so it will work with my outdrive since the outdrive won't live if I run it backwards
Now when you mean reverse rotation do you mean when viewed from the front of the engine. Not viewed from the rear. A automotive 302 engine turns clockwise my mercruiser turns counter clockwise
When viewed from the fly wheel the engine rotates clock wise which would make it rotate ccw when viewed from the balancer the opposite way a standard automotive 302 would rotate and besides then distributor gear is geared for a reverse rotation 302
So I tried to rotate the engine today with no luck. Had a 1/2 breaker bar on the crank bolt. No dice. So I pulled the intake and damn. The valley is rusted 2 intake runners full of water. If the jack wagon that I got the boat from would have just put a tarp or something over it. Oh well gonna...
Well it's not an exotic drive. I've just been reading on line that it's a reverse rotation 302. All I know it's gonna need a motor and was going to just get one from a junk yard for cheap until I read about the reverse rotation 302 mercruiser used in the 70s. Also I can I tell what outdrive is...
Ok so did the reverse rotation mercruiser 302 come in? The pitch of the prop is a clockwise rotation looking from the back of the boat. In order for that to happen the engine would have to rotate ccw from looking at the engine from the front. The prop has been on this boat for a while it has...
Just picked up a 73 searay srv 190 I think! Guy I got it from didn't know for sure. Anyways it has a 302 mercruiser reverse rotation. Now I pretty sure it's going to need a motor. I have a couple questions. 1. What gives with the revers rotation engine? 2. Instead of trying to find or rebuild it...
Hey guys, I just picked up a 1973 srv 190 for free. Its a project boat. Has some dry rot and maybe a bad motor. I hope i can get some tips and guidance from the gurus on here.. thanks
