Hi, i need a new carb for my 5.7 v8 mercruiser 1992,its a 4 barrell rochester with manual choke.Anyone got a spare for sale or can supply a link to one at a sensible price.
well,i've made sure the gear cables are correctly adjusted & everything checks out fine.Engine still starts on the button 1st time every time but after a few minutes i have to give it some throttle to keep her at a decent idle.Switched engine off & tried to start again-still no go,engine stinks...
can someone tell me how i adjust the gear cable, how do i know where neutral is?.....The guy who originally serviced the leg & replaced all bellows has stitched me up!! so i want to have a go my self
Hi my name is Andy,i found this site recently, glad there is a forum for sea ray owners! I'm from southampton,England & use my boat on the hamble river, solent & around the isle of white.
The engine cranks,so the neutral switch must not be the fault.its gotta be something silly,i'm going to get the guy who serviced the leg to have a look-i'm really hopeing it will be down to poor adjustments of the cables when he replaced all the bellows/gear cable.
ok,here is a photo of the dashboard & throttle lever.I'm pretty sure i don't have a safety switch anywhere but please correct me if i'm wrong. When i took these photos today i tried to start her & guess what she started!!!????? i quickly put her into reverse & back to neutral as fast as i could...
On the square-ish plate is the large black round button that i press in then push the lever forward 2-3 times to pump fuel into the carb before starting. Its not an efi she's got a 4 barrell rochester carb.
I don't have a safety switch as far as im aware. The control box has a lever with a large black button on the bottom which i press in to allow the boat to start with some throttle. The lever itself has a red button that you press to engage forward, obviously forward to go forward, back for reverse...
thats what my 1st thoughts were, but why was that the engine was ideling fine & revving smooth then as soon as i stuck it in reverse it cut out & wouldn't re start-may be the coil has packed in all of a sudden-need to check that i have a spark-can't get my head round it ,like i said it was...
Had a look this morning, the shift cutout switch is in nuetral position so i think that may be ok unless the switch is faulty?.The cables also appear to be ok.The engine just cranks now & will not fire!.I know i'm getting fuel to the carb as after a short while of cranking it floods, whats the...
