    I grounded my boat

Another newbie thing to do... Labor day weekend, we were running with another boat on Lake Erie, just east of Sandusky. The folks in the other boat wanted to run close to shore, so I was happy to let them lead, knowing funny things happen close to to shore. Sure as heck, the lead boat came...

    Hello from Canal Winchester, Ohio

Greetings from another landlocked guy in Central Ohio! I'm curious -- how long does it take to get to Norris? How often do you get down there? Enjoy the board. Bob

What Mods do you have planned for the winter?

    1) Do something to make my helm seat more comfortable. Higher pedestal or something. Wish I had a flip-up seat.

Thinking about taking the boat with us to Cedar Point

Weather: It changes so much that you will take your chances. Sometimes the marine forcast is great all week and then goes to crap the moring I am planning to leave. Chances are you'll get some good days. Peak summer is best. Dock: City dock is great at PIB. Not good for kids on the weekend...

    Speedo broken?

I recently had my speedo quit and found the line disconnected on the bottom of the outdrive, close to where it goes through the transom. It snapped right back together. After not finding any junk in the hole on the leading edge, I found the problem by disconnecting the line from the speedo...

Towing impact on the MPG on your vehicle

Pulling with my Honda Ridgeline, I drop from about 17 MPG (city) to about 15 towing. That's half freeway 65 MPH and have 2-lane 55 MPH.

Lake Wallenpaupack Guys, We have family about one hour away in New York State. I am trying to plan some boating into a family visit trip. Wallenpaupack seems to be the place. Any advice on places to launch, stay or avoid for someone who'se never been there? We will be going sometime during...

    Dock Ramp Ediquitte

I'm with Jeremy. The farther I can keep my gel coat away from those ramp docks the better. If I ever do have to tie up, it's a big production with lines and fenders and worry. When we load, my wife drives the boat and pretty much coasts onto the trailer bunks. We go just fast enough to...

    1YO on boat

Boating time always seems to conflict with nap time. The head supports in the child PFDs are great for propping sleeping kids up and providing a handy built-in pillow. In my experience, there is no better kid sleep inducer than the sound of a boat engine. We frequently have to wake the kids...

Another SRO Castaway Washes up on Beach

Thanks for the welcome! To clarify, not everyone living around Columbus is a Buckeye maniac. I'm a transplant from Cleveland, and I don't really share the enthusiasm (read: insanity) of most of the locals here. More importantly, there isn't much boating here. I am looking into getting...

    Serious problem on Lake Cumberland

I have a friend and coworker who keeps his 40-footer on LC and is currently building a house overlooking the lake. Much to my surprise, he is not that riled up about this. He is at the deep end of the lake. The shallow end is having some serious problems. I don't know what to believe...

Greetings, all, from slushy Central Ohio. I wasn't sure how I was going to survive winter. Good thing I didn't throw my computer off a cliff...
