By the time I got home from work it was getting pretty dark but i do not have holes in the cavitation plate and I didn't see any holes in the trim cylinders. Where is the Serial # located for the outdrive? I could have looked right at it but to dark to see through what looks to by several...
As far as i know it is the original Alpha. I'm at work right now so I will have to look at the trim cylinder when I get home. And forgive my ignorance but I'm not sure what a cavitation plate is. I'll have to look that one up. Learning something new everyday!
This is my first time taking the outdrive apart and i have a couple of questions. I feel resonably confident in the procedure after researching on line and reading other threads on here but here is my question. I have found 40 different (ok I'm exagerating) kits with different amounts of gaskets...

I have about 3900 lbs of boat + trailer being towed with a 2500HD GMC. Going on strictly numbers a 1500 truck should be fine but I'm sure glad I'm not towing with my old truck which was a 1500. It sure tows nice behind my 2500......
Looking great! It's gonna feel great to have everything back up to par with your Dads boat. Our boat belong to my wifes Dad who past away about 5 five years ago. Its been real satisfying to bring it back up to speed. Look forward to seeing your progress. Nice to see somone doing it right.

I just bought a new Edelbrock 600 to put on my Merc 260 to replace the Quadrajet. Just checking if anyone has made this upgrade (or not so upgrade) and has any thoughts. i appreciate any info. Thanks
I am not convinced my RPM gauge is working properly, I currently have a 15 Pitch prop and will only pull approximately 2000 RPM until reaching plane. After reaching plane we can reach 39 MPH but still only turning approximately 2600 to 2700 RPM according to the current gauge. Without having...
