When we put in this year and de-winterized everything, the vacufush vacuum pump started cycling about every 3 minutes - It was overdue for duckbills so I threw 4 of them at the problem with no effect. Came back to the boat a couple weeks later and measured the cycle time again - 6 minutes. A few weeks later - 10 minutes. Last weekend 16 minutes. I had a new ball and seal for the bowl so I threw that at it and it made no real difference. Headed down tonight and expect to be around 20 minutes.
Maybe in a few years the thing will cure itself

Just wondering if anyone has has anything like this in the past?

Now if we could just get them to clean themselves!

It could be the ball-shaft O-rings but I assume you replaced that when you replaced the ball.

Vegetable oil will make seals swell and work way better.

so does this mean we should be eating more salads before we use the head?......or maybe drink a V8?.... :)

So what causes duck bills to go bad? My boat is nearly ten years old, and I've never had to replace mine...nor in any of my boats before it. Curious.....

If recall correctly Scott, you don't let anyone use the potty!

Seriously, I think usage is a factor. When we bought Bella I had to replace the duck bills as well as a lot of other rubber parts. The boat had sat in storage for three years while the previous owner was moved around the country on various temporary job assignments. I replaced ours ten years ago, and have no problems since.

Nobody poops in your Head so they don't get much of a workout.

Had the same recycling issue.
After much research, I bought a product called Noflex digestor and introduced it into my heads as directed.
The heads stopped cycling and we're happy campers again. It seems to have cleaned all parts of the system and no more odors.

Lol, yes, I was just stirring the pot(ty) a bit. No number two in my system, which I am sure prolongs the life of the duckbills. From what I gather, changing them out is a pretty crappy experience, so in that respect, I think my policy is paying dividends.

Up to 20 minutes between cycles as of last night. :smt089

One week later, now at 35 minutes between cycles. WTF?

A couple of weekends ago, I listened for the vacuflush to cycle for over 2 hours while taking care of other things on the boat and never heard it go off.
Spent all weekend at Kelly's Island and did not hear it cycle once. I'm really at a loss, but happy.

Year 2 of this happening. Splashed mid May It cycled every 3 minutes.
Then 8 minutes about 2 weeks ago. Over 15 minutes today.
Strange.

I need me some of that magic fix it juice. Is it available on Amazon?
