Humph, since the controller was original equipment, I think water entered the unit and caused some shorting. I can turn it on, but now stbd movement will cause the connection to "stick" and port side will only barely work. Seems like the connections got wet and with the salt in the air....boom. The upside is that Vetus has been wonderful to discuss and I have a new controller in the mail. Plus the new one's have built in delay so you can not go directly from port to stbd without a pause.

I went with Vitrifrigo AC/DC model. 3 drawers are refer and top right is freezer. But you can mix and match whatever you want. Significantly more room than the sub zero that were there and now have dc power when on the hook.

That looks fantastic. I just added that to the the list of potential upgrades

Vitrfrigo DW180. Options are All Refer, All Freezer, Freezer top refer bottom. Ice maker can go in any freezer. You have to use the Standard Surface mount version due to width. Flush mount gets too wide. I just trimmed down 1.5" on the top and in roughly 3/4" on each side with 1.125" runner down the middle with painted black poplar. They screw in from the front trim.

Storytime, WOW looks great, There the DW180's I bet. We looked at them this last weekend at the Annapolis boat Show. I am considering the exact same layout as you in reference to fridge and freezer
Is the support brace for the counter-top that's between the fridges still there?

On another note. My wife had a good question. What about when we invite guests for the day and they bring their food dish. (with soft covering) How are we to store them without smashing them on top of one another? At least with shelves, we could separate them.

I had to tear out the brace in the middle to get my freezer out due to the feet sitting below my wood floor. Not enough height to get out with the stove top in place. So I tore it out and slid the freezer left and out. Removed the little sink cover shelf above the refrigerator as well. Just rebuilt that center brace after all was out.

There is infinitely more room with the drawers. I went 3 refrig and 1 freezer because we don't use that much freezer. There are also 1/2 sliding shelves in the top of each drawer for more delicate things. And if you think about it, you still have the same number of "shelves" with 3 drawers. The other thing I like is we now use that 3rd refrig drawer as a drink drawer, while still maintaining the same amount of refrig. space. Ill send some internal pics.

Great, I didn't think about it that way in reference to the amount of shelves. More pics would be great.

So since my wood floor is already removed to be replaced, I probably could leave that brace in and just add trim to the outer edge to screw the flange of the units in the middle.

When I show her your pics and her not having to deal with the outer doors anymore. It will be a sure sale.

Let me ask about cooling system maintenance. My boat has wood floors throughout. Has anyone pulled the aftercoolers without removing floor? Obviously easier with floor out, but looks achievable without pulling floor. Thanks

I am about to change the oil in my CAT 3196 engines for the first time:

First question: Where are the the oil filler tubes for each block (are they white tubes forward ship on the blocks, port with red cap, starboard with green cap)? I ask only because what I have identified are not marked as oil, are on opposing sides of the engine blocks and have different color caps.

Second question: How long should it take the Reverso system to drain and refill each block?

Third question: Is it faster/less mess to refill the block via the oil filler tubes or use the Reverso?

Thanks for your input.

I can't help you on the dispstick question since I don't have CATS.

I drain and refill via the Reverso oil changer and can tell you it goes much faster if your new oil is atleast room temp if not a little warm. Draining hot oil via the changer only takes a few minutes.

Scott, I filled mine via the fill tubes you mentioned that are red and green respectively. (the Starboard in you pic). I guess you could use the reverso pump but I didn't want to pump any leftover used oil in the hose, back into the engine.
Don't mix up the dip sticks from both sides if they aren't colored. They are different lengths.
Try to prefill the filters with the 15w40 oil prior to threading them back on. They hold almost a gallon each

Scott that is the oil fill cap. Just rotate enough to loosen the pressure fitting. 3196 take about 7 gallons of oil. So not full via the reverso pump. You should be able to tilt a 5 gallon drum plus a few gallon containers. Also use 15/40. Good luck
