It is time to change out the three batteries on our boat. Any recommendations other than just replacing with three type 27s?

Seems like a shame to buy 3 batteries so close to the end of the season...
There will be different opinions on what type of battery (lead acid, AGM, gel, etc). Me, I like the low cost of lead acids and if you can keep the battery on a charger when not using it, I'd be surprised if you didn't get at least 5 years (or more) out them. It's hard to argue (although I'm sure some will :smt001 ) with the bang-for-the-buck of that.
I'm with the low cost lead acids and an on-board charger too. Just now needing to replace my 6 year old Everstart Marine 27's, one of the 3 just started a voltage issue. Ran gels once and could not justify the cost again. If double the cost gave double the life it would be worth agm or gel but that does not seem to be the case. I'm now waiting until spring for our new set, only another month or so left.
